Out of lurking. Ladies, rec your ring sling please!

Hello!

I'm a first time AP poster, due in March, and getting ready to get geared up for the first few months of baby's life.

I was cruising Amazon for ring slings, but the reviews on the ones that come up in search are all pretty few (less than 50 for most of them) and so I was wondering what you ladies think.

I'm short (5"1'), looking for something that I can nurse in around the house or on short trips, and that will grow from infant to crawling stage.  Bonus if I can pee while wearing it!

We do have an Ergo and infant insert on the registry too for longer outings, and a friend is giving us a Bjorn for when she's older and wants to face outward.

One of the ladies here had a siggy link for babywearing, but the link was broken or taken down when I tried to click on it.  Sorry if this is a common question!

TIA ladies!

  • Loading the player...
  • Ah thank you.  I had previously clicked on your "Babywearing guide" and it said that the info wasn't there.  But I just now clicked the "Newborn carriers" and this is perfecto!

Glad you said something because my link was messed up!  Hope that helps ;-)

  • I have one from Rockin' Baby Slings that I got on Zulily (love bc there are two pockets, it's reversible, was a great price, and they donate one for each one you buy) and one of the classic cotton slings from zolowear (love bc it's thinner/not as hot, my husband will wear the dude in it but I wish I had a longer tail bc I like putting my hand in the pocket)

https://www.babyholdings.com/ All of us went to the brick and mortar store (where I almost peed my pants bc I was so excited) and I found out I have some RS preferences. I like zippered pockets and I think tailless ring slings are hard to adjust and funny looking.

Our family (esp the husband) loves the moby still too (just horrible for summer) and I can pee in all three.

  • I'm obsessed with my Sakura Bloom slings- they are expensive, but worth it for me. I love my single layer linen, it's light weight and easy off/on. I also have a double layer silk I just got for christmas- it's SO supportive and pretty... it takes a little more effort to adjust but slips less when I wear it. I got a Maya one early on, but found that the padded shoulder wasn't for me and makes getting it really tight harder.

Another thought on SSCs. I love my Becco Gemini- you can use it for a newborn without an insert and can do forward facing as well without needing another carrier. My friends with Ergos are kind of jealous of it- read about both and decide. Enjoy!

  • I find that the slings that carry to one side like a ring sling put too much weight on my shoulder and it ends up sore/hurting after a very short time. I am in LOVE with my boba wrap. Its easy to put on a spreads the weight all over your back and hips so LO doesnt feel so heavy. www.bobafamily.com
