newborn diapers

I had a growth scan on Wednesday and this little guy was already almost 7# so I'm planning for an 8# baby. How many newborn diapers did you need? I bought a pack of size 1 and have about a dozen hand me down newborn diapers. Plus what we'll take from the hospital.

Should I buy a whole package of newborn? Size 1 says 8# plus.

Definitely buy at least one package of newborns. My guys are 8.5 and 10.5 lbs and only just recently switched to size ones. If nothing else you will want the newborn diapers until their umbilical cords fall off, the size ones go way over nolan and asher's belly buttons and wouldnt have worked with the umbilical cord. Also remember that those growth scans can be way off!

I should also add that Holden was 9lbs at birth and still wore nb diapers for his first month.

Haha, I was going to say buy the min. NB size. Lucy was 9 1/2 lbs (but really short!) and couldn't get out of the OR until they found a size 1 diaper. Obviously she just had a big fat belly.

I'd say hang on to the NB diapers you have, and stock up at the hospital if they fit him!

Katie was 8.5# and I gave up on the newborn size as soon as we were out of the hospital. She had many blowouts and needed more room for containment. You could buy a package or two of newborns and then exchange them if you don't need them.

I would buy a pack and take every diaper you can find in the hospital

I think buy a pack and tape the receipt to it, incase you need E to go exchange for 1's.

W was 8'3oz and I had him in preemie for a couple days to use the bag I had. He wore nb for awhile, he was longish and didn't have a giant tummy. So, I think it all depends on their body shape.

Don't relay to heavily on the growth scan. I remember them telling me with L that he was 6lbs give or take a pound, this was 10 days before he was born weighing in a whopping 5lbs 5oz.He never wore size 1 until around 2 months. J was 7lbs 7oz at birth, he started in size 1 as soon as we came home because he had a big belly

I wouldn't buy newborns - just get some extra from the hospital and use 1s.

(Asher's first diaper was a 1 - the dr laughed at the nurse trying to fit the NB diaper on him so I may be biased)

DD was 8lbs 11oz and I went through 6 "smallish" packs of newborn diapers after comming home from the hospital and we spent the first five days after LO was born in the hospital. I just felt that the size 1's were too big on her untill she was around a month and a half old.
