North Carolina Babies

For all you NC ladies, quick question..

What's your weather been like this time of year? DH, DS and I are headed down there in a couple weeks and I'm trying to decided what kind of clothes to pack...shorts? sandals? We're in Michigan now, so it's pretty darn cold.

Also, is there anywhere exciting to take a 2.5 year-old to do around the Fayetteville area? TYIA!

Re: For all you NC ladies, quick question..

  • Definitely not shorts and sandles weather at this time of the year (with some odd exceptions) but it is supposed to be low 60s in the next few days.  It could really vary how it will be in a few weeks but I'd expect at least long pants/long sleeves and possibly a jacket.

  • Not shorts. It's going to be 45 on Sat with a low of 27. Light winter wear would be fine. Pants, long sleeves, and a jacket would be fine.

  • Check our weather right before you pack; it changes vastly day to day!  One of the best local forecasts comes from the local CBS station, WRAL:

We could have nice, mild weather or the small chance of snow/ice.  Central NC's weather is rarely boring or the same for more than a few days!

For the little one - there is a children's museum.  I cannot personally vouch for it, but it has been on my list as a 'random place to go if we're in Fayetteville' -

Also, there is a nice museum for the Airborne & Special Operations (https://www.asomf.org/) and a memorial park.

  • Who knows what the weather might be like in a couple of weeks.  I certainly wouldn't start packing just yet.  It was upper 60s this weekend but on Monday it was in the low 40's.  I wouldn't rule out a warm winter coat.  Of course it will be a nice break from Michigan but we have been known to see snow in late January.

I believe there is a children's museum in Fayetteville called Fascinate-U,  I haven't been but the website looks promising!

Hope the weather will be nice for your travels!

  • The Fascinate U Museum is worth your time.  It's not super great, but it costs something like $3 for your kid and $1 for you.  My 20 month old loves it.

I'm not sure a 2.5 year old would really enjoy the Special Ops Museum.

There is a Monkey Joes in Fayetteville.  It costs around $8 to let you kid play there.  They have a specific area set up for toddlers.  I haven't been there myself, but I've heard great things, and it's on the list.

There are also a lot of parks/playgrounds in the area he would probably enjoy.
