PW: Where would you have your 30th?

We were suppose to have my 30th bday at a friends backyard but they have to do some house issues and now we need another location. Ideas? It is Feb.11th all locations are welcome I just have to order invites like this week so need ideas for restaurants or venues that won't cost a ton since we are putting all money towards the house.

ETA: I want to wear this outfit so a dinner party is due.

  • My 30th was the most awesome birthday ever.  My sister had a scavenger hunt for me, where I went around following hints to different places, collecting birthday supplies.  At the end, I was led home where all of my friends and family were there to surprise me.  It was awesome.  And since I was home, I was able to relax and drink with no worries about getting home after.  :)

  • Depending on how many people you're planning on inviting... We did mine at Red's Back Porch. We had about 30ish people there and they reserved a whole section off for us. I did it in the late afternoon, so kids came too and they had plenty of high chairs and slings. Unless you need a private room for your party you could go that route and not have to spend anything. They did split checks, too, which made it easy on a big crowd like that.
  • mine was at home but we had a blast :)
  • I don't have any suggestions. I had given birth two weeks prior to my 30th, so I was at home snuggling a new baby. :)

What kind of things do you like to do?  I love to go bowling and I'd do the Highball.

  • ETA: I want it to be a sweet, elegant dinner mostly so I can wear this outfit minus the red shoes and gloves.

  • Jakob turns 10 on Feb 11.  We're taking him to Ju mp St reet trampoline place in Cedar Park.  Wanna join us?  Wink

My 30th is in June and we're renting a beach house in Port Aransas with another family.  Obviously that doesn't help you since you want somewhere local.

I always suggest Dave & Busters but I don't think anyone ever goes there.  Seriously, that place is so much fun.

Just saw this part.  We went to Cru's Wine Bar downtown on 4th, it was really nice and the food was awesome.  They have a back room you could reserve.  I think I've seen Rosie rec'd this place before, too.

I did the Highball for my 30th. We got a private karaoke room. Tons of fun.

  • If I wanted something where I had to look/be fancy, I'd book a private room at Congress.  Although, I am sure they are not inexpensive.

Another place I have no idea about cost is the upstairs of Parkside.  That's more of a big party place, though (not sure what you're thinking as far as number of guests).

What about a place that's as fancy as you make it?  Chez Zee and Z Tejas have private rooms that are nice but could be decorated up to be super fancy.

  • I would love to do a party at highball so thats my vote.  But that's not really an elegant dinner.  Maybe somewhere like Max's Wine Dive?

  • I also love Highball. Not for a fancy sit down dinner, but a fun time for sure. For dinner, I like pp, or Moonshine or NXNW. Although I guess those are more casualish too... I feel like no where in Austin is very dressy, you just have to do your own thing and make it dressy if you want!
