Into and Question

Hello Everyone!  I just found out on 1/5 that I am pregnant with my first!  I actually had a very faint positive NYE followed by a negative digital, so I was hesitant to believe it.  Now they are all positive :)  According to all the dates I am due 9/12/12.  This is so exciting...and terrifying.  I was married for a short time a year and half ago and had serious infertility issues with my ex.  I met my current boyfriend very shortly after my separation (NOT looking at all).  After trying an IUD and struggling, we discussed it and decided to just go with NFP and be cautious.  After going through some infertility before, I honestly didnt think I would get pregnant.  I know how ridiculous this sounds even as I type it and read it.  We were planning to get married before and both want kids really bad so we are very excited (and scared)!

For the question...the OB didnt want to see me until I was at least six weeks, so my first appt is 1/23.  In the last two days however, I have developed a bump (seriously?! I'm only 4 weeks!).  I am an average size person, not extremely thin by any means but this is a BIG change.  It is obvious and difficult/impossible to hide in my normal shirts.  Just wondering if this has happened to anyone else and what advice you have.  My mind is all over from multiples (which run in my family and his), to earlier conception than we thought and even a molar pregnancy/tumor.  I dont want to be an obnoxious patient at the OB but I am concerned...

Thanks for reading and congrats to all!

  • Your "bump" is just bloat.  The baby is below your pelvic bone

  • First of all congrats and welcome!  It is normal to have a LOT of belly bloat early on and it makes you feel like you are showing when you arent.  It is totally normal for OBs to wait to see you.  My office has you come in at 7-8 weeks, they all have their own system.

This.  And you can talk to your OB at your first appointment about how far along you are.  Most offices will also confirm with a dating U/S.

    Congrats!
