I attempt to fold it for about 10 seconds and then ball it into the matching pillow case. I wonder why I even try to fold it at this point, I know it never actually gets folded.
Haha, I'm actually teased about the way I fold them because I'm a bit anal about it. I try really hard to tuck in the corners and get them as close to perfect as possible. I wish I could do what you do.
Ha! I finally mastered doing it when I was living on my own during college, but it's nice to have DH help me. We usually get them folded pretty nicely when it's the two of us.
So if you hold the sheet up with one hand in the seam on each side, then fold so the seam parts become the edges, the curvy part falls inside. Do the same thing on the bottom, and you have a normal rectangle.
Yeah, It is a hassle sometimes. What I do is I fold the round corners inwards so that it just makes a regular corner instead of rounded. Do that for all four obviously. Then you can proceed to folding like a regular rectangular sheet. Oh, I forgot to mention when you do fold in the round corners to make them squared, you have to fold all sides inwards too. I probably confused you more than you were to begin with. I guess go ahead, ball it up and toss it in the closet.
Funny that you posted this b/c a few weeks ago I was so frustrated with this that I actually looked it up online and found a youtube video that has TOTALLY REVOLUTIONIZED the way I fold fitted sheets. So ridiculous that you can even find that on youtube, but now I have nicely folded sheets!
I wondered the same thing a few days ago when I was washing stuff. I just ended up wadding them up. Hopefully they'll flatten once on the mattress, which I have to totally remove from the crib to put the sheet on! Good thing it weighs like 2 pounds!

Please share this video link with me. As for all you other pro-folders - thanks for the tips. I will give it a shot.
I am completely OCD about folding sheets and towels, and having an uber-organized linen closet. The rest of my house is filled with neatly stacked piles of crap everywhere, but for one little space in the closet, it is pure utopia.
That said, I observe the Martha Stewart method of folding fitted sheets...Works like a charm, and I can do it alone without DH helping.

Did that make any sense at all?
This is what I do. It really works.

This is the standard by which I find myself in awe of MIL's housekeeping: she know how to fold fitted sheets PERFECTLY. I myself prefer the wad-in-a-ball method. No one's perfect.
ditto the martha stewart way. i love her. i am EXTREMELY anal about my sheets/towels being folded. my DH did laundry while i was away in europe for a month and when i came back i had to redo all the folding lmao.?
A late response...but I needed this post over the weekend. I gave up and was tired of my linen closet looking like a mess. I bought those canvas storage bins for the sheet sets.....hides the fitted ball sheet!
Re: Seriously - how do you fold fitted sheets?
You treat the seam corners as real corners.

I'll have to try this. He makes it seem so easy!
