What do you think of these names?

Yep, down to 2wks and still no solid girl names yet. These are a few that have mentioned/tossed around lately...just curious what you think. I like the name Grace for a middle name, but with some names it doesn't sound right so we'd probably use something else.

-Emily (probably DH's fave-I think it's too plain compared to Avery though)
-Macy (DH thought of this over the weekend-I'm sort of eh about it)
-Chelsea (one of my top picks-was in top 3 for DD, DH says he doesn't like it now)
-Allison (same as Chelsea)
-Victoria (brought up over the weekend)
-Brooke (loved it when thinking of names and DH vetoed it, now he says he likes it)
-Cassandra (brought up over the weekend)
-Cameron (one of our top BOY names, may use it for a girl too but I don't love it for a girl)

  • I do like Emily, although it is popular.  And I like the sound of "Emily and Avery".  I didn't go matchy-matchy with my girl's names, but I did want them to flow.  However, I liked a popular name and we went with it, I mean it was #2 on our list 2 years earlier when we had DD#1.

Macy does make me think of Teen Mom, or the singer.

Victoria - a distant cousin of mine named her kid victoria because she wanted to call her Tori.. so are you planning on a nickname, or are you prepared for people to call her Vickie, Tori, etc?

  • out of these I like Allison the best and then Cassandra

    -Emily - No
-Macy - Loved it prior to Teen Mom; I still love it, but I know most people don't
-Chelsea (one of my top picks-was in top 3 for DD, DH says he doesn't like it - Ok
-Allison - LOVE Allie, not a huge fan of Allison
-Victoria (brought up over the weekend) - NMS
-Brooke - Like it a lot
    -Cassandra - No
    -Cameron - Ok

  • Have you thought of using Grace as a first name? I think it flows nicely with your last name, and with Avery.

    imagebattybtags:

-Emily - I'mm 50/50 with this name, depending on the day.

    -Macy - NMS
    -Chelsea - Like
    -Allison - Like
-Victoria - Tons of nicknames as possibilities, not sure if that bothers you. Also pretty long with your last name.
-Brooke- Bad association with the name that totally ruined it for me, but still decent name.
    -Cassandra - NMS
-Cameron - I think of this as a boys name, not a fan of it on girls.

  • My sister is a Cassandra, She goes by Cassy.  She hates it because ppl never get it right.  Ppl assume she is a Sandra or Sandy, or if she uses Cassy, it always gets changed to Casey.

I think Cameron is too popular a boy's name to use for a girl right now.  Macy and Brooke, just NMS since I try to stay away from names that are easy to tease.  Not much to say about the others.

I am EXACTLY the same as mrsoc, except shes a Vicki and I am a Tori. My mom also named me Victoria, just to call me Tori, and I got so used to that, that I always introduce myself as Tori, however, if I could go back, I would TOTALLY have wanted to be a Victoria only. I love using full names. And I think that if you call your girl Victoria, and DONT use a nickname, then chances are she won't use/want one either. I know when teachers/kids used to call me Vicky, I used to adamantly tell them that my name was Tori. I dont know why, but I didnt want to be called Vicky...

Anyways, so on your list, I love Victoria, and I also like Allison and Brooke. Macy also makes me think of Teen Mom (bleh).

  • I like Victoria and Allison.  Emily is too popular now - trust me, as a Jennifer growing up in the 80s, you do not want your kid to be one of four, five or even six other Emilys in her class. Also if you have an Avery ... say it out loud ... Emily and Avery ... all I can think to follow that up with is "live together in perfect harmony, side on my piano keyboard oh Lord" ... ya hear it?

I'm not nuts about Chelsea but at least it's a little different.

  • I love Allison (Alli as a nm- LOVE!). Next choices would be Cassandra (Cassy) and then Victoria. I also love the name Grace (I would have used it, but my hubby vetoed it).

    -Emily love
    -Macy no
    -Chelsea okay
    -Allison okay
    -Victoria like
    -Brooke like
    -Cassandra no
    -Cameron okay

  • I am an Emily (but spelled Emilie) and I go back and forth about it.  There were a ton of Emily's in my class growing up and being spelled differently people always mispronouce it as Emile, the boy's name.  However, I feel like it is a name that transitioned well to adulthood, and I do like it with Avery.

Like pp's said, Macy makes me think of teen mom, but in a few years no one will remember teen mom, so if you like it, use it.

I don't like Brooke or Cameron personally, but I recently had a friend name her baby something I never would have liked and before meeting the baby thought was not a great name.  But it totally fits the baby and the family and now it rolls off my tongue.  So I think (almost) any name can be right.

    Just my 2 cents :)
