January 2012 Moms

Little O is here!

Orrin Ellsworth was born on January 4th at 3:10pm.

Tuesday we went to our Drs appointment like usual, and discussed whats to come if he didn't arrive by next week or even on his due date of the 9th. We made an appointment for an NST on his due date and was sent home. For the rest of the day I felt like my SO had before (he had a stomach bug) and didn't eat much. For dinner I decided to go with a baked potato.

At 8:45 I get up to go to the bathroom and end up running to throw up. As I'm bent over the toilet my water breaks and I slowly get into a seated position. I call in my mother and SO and tell them what went on and we start getting ready for the hospital.

On our way to the hospital we had to stop on the side of the road for me to be sick once again. At 10:07 we check into the hospital and get hooked up to the monitors: Contractions 2 minutes apart, 3 cm dialated, 100% effaced with little o at station 0.

Onto January 4th, at 3:37 am I'm not asleep and the doctor comes in and proposes pain meds for me to sleep a little. I take them and they only make me feel sleepy and out of it with the pain not going away, but the contractions have slowed down at 5 minutes apart now.

At 6:30 I was cramping very badly (apparently thats how my contractions were showing). Asked to go use the jacuzzi tub and someone had just used it so it was going to be half an hour until I could use it because it would have to be cleaned, instead I asked for the epidural. The epidural was given to me and my contractions slowed down even more, to 7+ minutes apart, but it helped with the pain.

8:41 came around and the dr checked me: 6cm dialated 0-1 station for lo. 10:35 was another check: 9cm 1 station. Finally at 1:23 the doctor says lets get this last cm dialated so they put me on pitocin.

They left me until 2:48 when I told them that the pressure wouldn't totally go away down there near my pubic bone so the doctor came in once again (after she was done with an emergency c-section) and checked. She gloved her hand and when she went to go in I felt her hit something that wasn't me, she looked suprised and said he was crowning lets have this baby!

At 2:50 I started pushing and by 3:10 he was out. He had an 18.5 inch( 33.5 cm) head and it was hard at times to push him out. But once his head was clear his shoulders and body were fine to come out. I'm very excited we finally have an outside baby!
