Austin Babies

Suggest a nearby overnight getaway

So DH and I have never spent a night away since DS has been born. We were thinking it would be fun to just get away for a night before these babies come. I think a "trial run" will help me feel less stressed about leaving DS when I'm in the hospital, too.

We'll just be spending one night, so it needs to be close by--under 2 hours. We'd like it to be romantic, but it doesn't have to be totally over the top--just getting out of the house and being alone will provide plenty of romance :)

Also, we'll probably be doing this in March sometime, if that matters.

Thanks!

ETA: It doesn't even have to be OUT of Austin--downtown, near the lake--that would work too!

  • We LOVE the Kimber Modern on SoCo!! It's so quant and relaxing. It's on the pricey side but we save it for special getaways and also justify it by not having to drive that far!

  • My first thought was Fredricksburg for a B&B.. but if you cannot partake in the winery fun, maybe you should save that for your first overnight getaway post-babies/breastfeeding. ;)
  • I also thought Fredricksburg. You can also look into B&Bs in Salado. The Inn at (Above?) Onion Creek is supposed to be nice. Lakeway Resort and Spa is gorg.
    Dear Bump: You suck.
  • was going to suggest either Lakeway Resort or Horseshoe Bay

  • DH and I did one night at Lost Pines in Bastrop.  He was there for work but it was so nice I could have stayed longer.  It really felt like we were way out of Austin, yet just 20 min from home.

This. I went to a wedding there this summer and vowed we would go back for a getaway. You can be lazy or enjoy the TONS of things going on. You really do feel tucked away!

  • I wasn't allowed to travel far after 24 weeks so for our "babymoon", we went to a B&B in Fredericksburg. It was divine.
  • San Antonio has so many cute B&Bs and nice hotels on the riverwalk. Tons of great food and you can slowly meaner the riverwalk, alamo, etc.

  • DH and I had a blast on our babymoon to Fredericksburg!
  • I was also going to suggest Horseshoe Bay.  We planned on going there before the baby came we just didn't get to it.
