Standard vs Wide Neck Bottles

What is the difference - aside from the obvious one?  My friend gave us 5 new Dr Brown's bottles that are Wide Neck (we have been using Standard) and I tried one out.  DS didn't seem to mind the difference so I plan to use them as well.

Re: Standard vs Wide Neck Bottles

  • Wide is supposed to be better for breast fed babies.

  • I chose wide necked because it is more like my boob, since we still breastfeed at times.

I've heard this as well.  I primarily breastfeed but do give DD BM in a bottle when we go out and I haven't had any issues with Standard Dr. Browns bottles.  She prefers them to the Breastflow (wide neck) bottles that we have tried as well.

  • For us the difference was that DD could not drink from the wide neck bottles they just seemed way too big for her mouth or something and she would leak everywhere.

  • We switched to the DB-wide neck too! We also tried tommee tippee and the new similac bottle but sticking to the DB wide neck!!
