I'm interested in doing BLW, but I'm also concerned about food allergies since they run on both our sides. I had read that you should introduce foods one at a time for a week to make sure there no adverse reactions. Has anyone done this while also doing BLW? Is it just a matter of making a big pot of sweet potatoes to last a week? And if we introduce foods one at a time, is there a preferred order?
Re: Question about baby led weaning and allergies
The BLW book suggests that if you introduce a food that is a common allergen in your family, to wait four days or so to observe any possible reactions before offering it again. Our pediatrician suggested avoiding those known allergens altogether until she is older (18-24 months old).
We don't have allergies in our family, just a gluten intolerance (celiac disease) so we have been giving a variety of fruits and vegetables so far (3 weeks in). I do use leftovers two or three days in a row, especially if what we're having for dinner isn't "finger-shape friendly."
