Which doppler to get???

Just thinking about maybe buying/renting a doppler. Looking for your opinions on the best....that I'd be able to hear my baby's heartbeat at an earlier time than my 13 week appointment at the end of the month (just to tide me over until the appt-hehe). I appreciate your comments. Thanks!

Re: Which doppler to get???

  • *lurking from 2nd tri*

    I went to FetalDoppler.net

    and bought the Sonoline C

I love it to death!!! I used to use it for finding LO heartbeat, but now I use it to hear movements...

I have also heard a lot of good things about the Sonoline B (which is a little cheaper)

    GL!

  • I'd think long and hard before you go buying one of those.  It will be a while before baby's heart is big enough to find it all the time.  If you're the type to panic if you can't find the heartbeat, don't do that to yourself.

That is very true... a couple of days ago, when I wasnt feeling anything all day, I took out my doppler, and couldnt find his heartbeat (freaked me out, b/c of how far I am)

I put it down for a couple hours, and was stressing the entire time, later that night I tried again, and did end up finding it...

If you are the type to give up easy (Im not trying to be mean or anything) it is something you may not want to invest in...

  • I have the sonoline B.. I like it :)  I think it was relatively inexpensive ($53) and gets the job done!  I agree with PP's though.. be prepared, you may not always be able to find the HB, and that's okay!! Before buying it, I made a promise to DH that I wouldn't freak out if I couldn't find it.. that I promised to wait and try again either later that day, or the next day.. and, so far, that's what I've done :)  Sometimes, it takes me like 15-20minutes to find it, and I can only find it for like 20 or 30 seconds LOL before LO moves and I lose it!  But, even just those few seconds are amazing :)  Took me like 6 tries before I could find it when DH was around.. for some reason baby doesn't cooperate when we're trying to share the moment with DH too :)

  • The 1st time I found the heart beat was 13wks. I know some people find it sooner. I got mine at 9wks and was picking up BPM so I know there was a heart beat I just couldnt hear it yet. But I had already heard it at the doc's office. Now I use it once a day to give me peace of mind :)

  • I got a Sonoline B from eBay. I paid $56 for it including free shipping so it was a great deal and I got it within a week.

Its a great investment to make just so that you can have peace of mind and enjoy listening to the whooshing sound with DH.
