I want to have Ferber's baby

Last night was night four of sleep training and OMG!!  I am amazed.  Night 1 he cried for 43 minutes.  I honestly thought it would be hours of crying as DS can and does literally scream for hours in the car.  Second night he cried for 33 and then he woke up about 3am.  We did the technique at that time and he quickly fell back to sleep.  Night 3 was 8 minutes, woke at 11:30 and again was asleep on his own before I even had to check on him.  Last night he cried a little bit but it was nothing like the other nights and was asleep in seven minutes of putting him in his crib. He didn't wake at all last night and is still asleep -  it's been almost 12 hours.

I cannot believe it.  The first night was hard on me and I did cry a lttle bit but seeing the change has made the tears worth it.  He is so much happier and calmer during the day.  He is still happy to see me and am clearly still the love of his little life.  I was another one who was never going to CIO and did judge but babies just need some help and I'm glad I did.

  • Congrats!!  I felt the same way....it really gave me a whole new baby!  I felt like this won't be the last time we have to do things that aren't easy for us as parents but will be better for the kid in the long run.  Having my LO learn how to soothe herself has also made it easy in the car now....she can totally just fall asleep in the car seat, where as before she would fight it tooth and nail!
