We were at BRU today trying to figure out what we needed to eventually buy for the new baby and what we could reuse from M. He asked about convertible carseats and it made me think that by the time he's ready to move up from the infant seat to a convertible, she may be ready to move up, too. The ones we have would be well within the 5 years expiration date time, so I'm not worried about that. I looked briefly at them and it looks like she'll be within the height/weight requirements.
So I pose it to the experts, when did you ladies switch from a convertible carseat to a booster carseat (the kind with the back)? Also, did you have a favorite brand? We have one Britax and one Graco MyRide65 and we prefer the Graco by far so I'm thinking of sticking with them.
Thanks!
Re: When did you switch to a booster carseat?
Are you thinking of a booster that uses the seat belt or still has a harness? I've been looking into this b/c Bailey is about to out grow one of his car seats (marathon classic). He's tall for his age. His Graco Nautilus he's pretty good in especially since it converts to a back booster and a backless booster using the seat belt.
Everything I've read says not to use the seat belt with a booster until 4 years old. I have some friends that did it at 3 for their kids through. We will be getting another nautilus or britax frontier once we can't use his marathon classic anymore. Even through Bailey is tall I still like him with the harness.
Thanks, yes we're looking at the nautilus so it will have the harness. It's good to hear those can be used early on. The only problem I read online about boosters is that it's harder for kids to sleep in them because they're not really at an angle, did you have problems with that?
