Random baby weight question

I'm looking at a Baby Bjorn babysitter, but my son is four months already and weighs around 15/16 pounds. The chair accommodates up to 29 pounds - I have NO idea when he will get to 29 pounds, and am wondering how much use I can get out of it.

 I know it is extremely variable, but I'm curious- what was your baby's birth weight and how old were they when they reached 29-ish pounds???

    definitely  not worth it at this point.. those things are way overpriced for just being a glorified bouncy seat and once your kid starts crawling in about 3 months they probably wont want to be strapped into a seat anymore..  Although if you do decide to get it youve probably got at least a year before your kid hits 29 lbs.   My son was 20lbs at his first bday and probably not 29lbs until he was almost 2 maybe??

    I asked my midwife about baby weights.  and she told me that babies should double their birth weight by 6months, and triple their birthweight by the time they hit a year.

    My son is/was a chunker so in my experience it wouldn't be worth it.

    DD1 was 6lbs. 10oz. at birth, 20lbs. at one and 24lbs. at two. She's roughly 26.5 pounds at 2.5 right now.

    DD2 was 7lbs. 15oz. at birth, and is around 21lbs right now at almost 15 months (we haven't had her 1 year appointment yet, talk about slacking!)

    Lucy was 9lb 8 oz at birth.  She's 23 months now and is about 28-29lbs.  We had a bouncy seat for her, it was like $40 on clearance at Target.  Awesome find, it was the Boppy brand one.  We only used it until she was about 5-6 months.  By that time she was wanting to be sitting up and playing more.  She started sitting at 6 mos. and then they can't use them anymore.  I wouldn't spend big bucks on the Bjorn one though, I don't think you'll get your money's worth.

    Thanks all - I didn't even think about him not wanting to be in a seat once he learns to crawl which will be sooner rather than later!
