Why can't you eat feta cheese during pregnancy. I understand the concern with unpasteurized cheeses, but I have never come across a cheese in a grocery store that isn't pasteurized. I checked all the feta cheese brands and they are all pasteurized. So what's the issue?

Dr's are oldschool:( My directions from the OB changed this time around and instead of saying no Feta, no Brie, No Blue, it just says no unpasteurized soft cheese...please read the labels, and ask in a restaurant.

This. I eat it on crackers...love feta.
I actually come across a lot of soft cheeses that are unpasturized. The large chain grocery stores usually have mostly pasturized cheese but the smaller neighborhood stores and natural foods stores by me have lots of unpasturized. I just avoid them unless it clearly states that it is pasturized on the label.
Actually, some states allow you to sell unpasteurized cheeses and others don't. But it's illegal to sell unpasteurized cheeses across state lines. (Unless the cheese is aged for at least 60 days). So any cheese you eat in the US which is imported will either be pasteurized or aged for 60 days which is supposed to serve a similar function. Your biggest risk is if you live in a state that allows the sale of unpasteurized cheeses you should be careful of mom and pop stores and corner markets that may have locally made cheese which may not be pasteurized.
Here are the laws per state on selling raw (unpasteurized) milk:
