70-80% effaced, 5 cm dilated, no contractions?

Hi everybody! I'm a FTM due on the 10th, and I am currently between 70-80% effaced and 5 cm dilated but have not had any real distinguishable contractions. I've had a vague crampy feeling off and on today and yesterday, as well as some Braxton Hicks (I'm very accustomed to them now!), but nothing painful, nothing tight all over. I lost my MP and had some bloody show as of Friday, but still nothing... I'm just clueless. I'm so ready to meet my little girl, but I don't have any idea what's happening right now! I've been walking daily, bouncing and rolling my hips on my birthing ball, rocking on all fours, eating spicy foods, the whole nine yards... Any suggestions? Ideas how long it will be?

    That's EXACTLY what I was like last Thursday when I went in for my reg appt. I went to L&D b/c I was a prior c-section and they wanted to monitor me for more dilation.

    Needless to say, I went really fast and had DD the next morning.

    I would say my contractions didn't really start hurting until I was roughly 7cm and they were 2 min apart (approx 6-7 hrs after I was admitted).

    Oh my gosh, I hope so too! So it is normal for some women to not feel contractions until they're that dilated? Whew! I was scared there was something wrong with me. Crossing my fingers she'll be here soon!! :-)

    Yes...the nurses kept coming in and asking my pain number and I kept say "zero" - I think they thought I was crazy...that was until I was 7 and they really started to hurt! :)

    However - if you plan on getting an epi, don't wait too long. I couldn't imagine having to sit still while I'm having a contraction. My epi took a really long time to place and I'm happy I wasn't feeling contrax pain while sitting there all hunched over.
