Ladies who temp and have had a loss

How long after a miscarriage did you start temping again?  Should I start tomorrow, or not even think about it for a while?

Re: Ladies who temp and have had a loss

  • So sorry to hear of your loss. I've temp'd and had a loss but they were not at the same time... Either way, I'd say to give yourself some time and just heal emotionally before worrying about tracking your temp again. It's totally your decision but that's what I would do.

  • I wouldn't even think about it or a while. For one thing, temps are going to be crazy for a while, most likely. You may still have HCG and progesterone in your system for quite a while. Your doctor may want to follow your HCG levels down to below 5 with bloodwork. He/she may also say to take at least one cycle off before starting to try again. It's partially because of the emotional toll but also because your cycles may or may not regulate right away.

If you feel like you want to temp, go ahead. I did to some extent after my first loss even though we were TTA that cycle, but after the second I totally half-assed it and gave myself a break.

Lots more hugs to you. I'm sorry you have to be going through this.

  • Sorry for your loss :(

I wouldn't. I temped for 6 months (took 3 cycles to get PG) and then had a D&C at 10 weeks before I got PG with Abby. We waited 3 months to try again. By then I was pretty comfortable with my fertility CM signs without messing with taking a daily temp. It was complicated by my irregular sleep schedule anyway. After 6 months it was abundantly clear when my fertile days were on average and having sex every other day around that time was simple enough. I personally wonder about women who have charts where they O every X day and they still. keep. temping!! Just something else to make you crazy while TTC.

I got PG first cycle trying with Abby, same with Emily. EWCM is pretty obvious if you have it!

This was my frist cycle temping.  I had been off birth control since May and never had a regular cycle.  They were all between 45-55 days long and never even somewhat consistent. So in December my OBGYN suggested that I start temping, so I have only done it once.

But I'll just hold off for a while and try to relax.

    Thanks for the help!
