So, my DH worked at an organization that serves a medical specialty - provides education, practice support, etc. He ran their marketing dept. Well some wacko doctor on one of their committees got into a fight w/ my DH at a meeting and was literally cursing and waving his arms around and walked out because he "was not consulted" about a decision that had been made. My DH calmly pointed out that he a)needed to stop cursing and b)he actually had been on a conference call where this had been discussed and the minutes were available to document this. The doc escalated and complained to my DH's boss. So the solution: THEY FIRED MY DH!! WTF??? In this economy, with me working part time, with the holidays around the corner, they FIRED him over a personality difference!?? They claimed that their job is to "serve the doctors" and even though there are 2 sides, they had to take the doc's side. I am so depressed today. We want to keep this to ourselves for now, until we figure out how to tell our friends and families, so I have no one to vent to. So here I am.
Re: NBR: Need to vent: DH got FIRED!
INTERNATIONAL NESTIE LIST
So sorry! Has he tried a formal complaint or something? Or even tried talking to the doctor or his boss. It couldn't hurt right?
That's so unfair! With documentation, can your DH seak some kind of redress? Did he at least get a good severance?
They are "considering" a severance package. We are waiting to hear what it is. If his boss calls and I answer the phone, I have to remember to be pleasant until we get the answer regarding the severance package. Otherwise, I might have to tell him the f off!
Sheesh, I would be very upset also. =*(
That is sad that your husband cried and then said "What will I tell my wife and 6 month old..?"
Well, I think that you and your husband will pull through. My husband last year was out of a job for almost 2 months. Maybe even longer. I was about 7 months pregnant and we only had his monthly drill pay (military) to pay bills. That was like $200. That was in November and December also.
Our son (baby wasn't born yet) had no idea how much of anything he was getting for Christmas etc. It wasn't a big deal for him. We also just told our families that we weren't doing Christmas presents either.
I think you should not worry about the Christmas gifts and things like that as I am sure that you are. I hope that you and your husband can figure out what options are available whether it be temporary work and even food stamps and emergency tanif things like that.
Good luck!
I'm so sorry! ?I know how you feel, DH got laid off last November when DS was 1 month old. ?I hope they feel guilty enough and they offer him a nice severance. ?
Your DH may want to check with HR to make sure they can fire him without any prior warnings. ?And make sure he reaches out to the boss who couldn't look him in the eye so that he gets a good reference. ??

DD #2 - 03.13
That is bowl crap! Man that sucks!!!
At least hopefully since he is medical marketing he won't have too much trouble finding a new job and from what it sounds like your DH is too good for them anyway.
I am so sorry. I teared up reading that your DH was crying. Hopefully he'll find something even better.
And what a-holes to fire him because the doc was full ofshit.
