I was just wondering what facial moisturizer you are using during pregnancy...I am looking for one that won't give me more acne than I already get during this crazy hormonal time lol! But I definitely need one for the winter, my skin has been so dry!
Re: What facial moisturizer are you using? Need recs!
I use Yes to Tomatoes. You can get it at Target. I have really bad pregnancy acne that goes crazy if I don't stay on top of it, and this moisturizer has been a life saver. It's actually what I have always used, because it's so mild.
Edit: Also try to get an all natural 'real' soap. And by real, I mean one that's made from fat and lye. I have been using an egg soap that my mom makes and it doesn't dry out my skin like every other soap or face wash does.
Is it this one?

And it is safe for pregnancy? It looks interesting!
It doesn't have any of the stuff that you're supposed to avoid in it. I'll tell you in two weeks whether or not the baby has three arms
I asked my ob about skincare restrictions and she said that pretty much any over the counter product is fine.
I wash with Philosophy Purity Made Simple (and use my Clarisonic once a day), tone with DDF Glycolic 10% Toning Complex, treat with Cosmedix Purity Serum as needed, and moisturize with Pangea Organics Facial Cream (Combo Skin).
One thing to keep in mind is that with skin that's breaking out, stripping it of all oils (like with lye soap, yikes) is a terrible idea and will make your skin worse. It will cause your skin to start producing more oil in an attempt to keep your face moisturized, just creating a cyle that will make your skin look and feel terrible.
For some good drugstore items, Cetaphil, Purpose, and Cera-Ve are great, gentle options that will get your skin clean without stripping it. Cera-Ve, specifically, makes AWESOME moisturizers. I have both the A.M. and P.M. and like them both.
This is not what true soaps do. Because the glycerine hasn't been stripped out of them, (and sold back to you as moisturizer.) they do not dry your skin as badly as many other body washes etc. It is the agent that converts the fat into soap. OP, do some research on your own. It is many people who suffer from dry skin's experience that natural soaps are much better for their skin.
Aveeno! I use their facewash..the Ultra-Calming Foaming Cleanser and then for face lotion..Aveeno Active Naturals Skin Relief Moisturizing Lotion. I have really sensitive/dry skin -- and this is the perfect balance
Pretty much I find anything with oatmeal in it helps a lot!
Also - NEVER use to have acne! It's so frustrating, but I should be greatful that the breakouts I do have due to the hormones... are not as bad as they could be. But still..Ugh!
I also use Yes to Tomatoes, as well as Yes to Carrots at night. I love them both. They are all natural, which is a plus during pregnancy. My skin has never been better.
That is the one I use!
This. I make my own soaps, and none of them are anywhere even close to as stripping as the stuff you just rattled off as suggestions. I have really dry skin, so most commercialized skin care products are too harsh because they contain awful ingredients, and actually cause the skin problems you just described. Further, most of those products also contain either Sodium Hydroxide or Potassium Hydroxide, both commonly referred to as "lye" in the soap-making world.
I use First Aid Beauty, which I get at Sephora. It is for sensitive skin prone to redness aniChat retin-a free. The mineral sunblock is awesome and doesn't have any of the scary chemicals present in regular sunblock. If you want to avoid the "mask of pregnancy" sunblock is super important. I'm in CA so that matters year round.
I also use Philosophy face wash. For extra moisturizing and to exfoliate face and back (thanks for the bacne, pregnancy) I use L'Occitane almond scrub. I know that there is a drugstore equivalent, but I got that for Christmas.
When philosophy stuff is too spendy I use cetaphil and Burt's bees stuff.
THIS! All I will use!
They make a garnier version, tried it once, CRAP! Loaded with perfumes, etc...& made my face feel sticky
