Baby will not eat from spoon!

My son is almost 9 months old, and absolutely refuses to eat anything from a spoon. He will only take his bottle. I have tried different types of spoons, distracting him, trying to feed him when he is somewhat full, trying to feed him when he is hungry, etc. and no luck! He used to be a little easier to work with, but now he just flat out refuses. My husband and I waited until he was about 7 months old before we started trying a lot of spoon feeding and I am starting to think we may have waited too long. Now he is being very stubborn and doesn't seem to want anything to do with it! Any ideas? I am running out of them :(.

    I would look into baby led weaning if he is refusing the spoon!

    We tried starting solids on the spoon at 5 months. She refused then and still does now so I doubt it's due to waiting too long. We started BLW 2 months ago and it's going pretty well. Definitely a learning curve but she loves feeding herself and while she's not ingesting a ton, she's getting used to different tastes and textures. Food under one is just for fun. Don't stress...he'll get it!

    Load up the spoon with something not too runny, so it will stay on the spoon from all angles. Then give him the spoon. Eventually it will find his way to his mouth the right way. Have fun!

    My son won't eat anything from a spoon either. We did the same thing - waited too long to start solids. By then, he was too independent to want to do anything but feed himself! We had to go straight to finger food but he does great with it. Look into starter finger foods and I bet your LO will eat like a champ!
