Bumpers free crib=bumps on DSs head.

Yes. Since we got back from the trip DS has been more restless and has been waking up more often during the night. He doesn't cry when he wakes up but he roams around the crib. last night he started screaming all of a sudden and I went to his room and I saw him laying along the shorter dimension of the crib (sorry, not sure what is the word for it). He is definitely much longer that the crib in that case and I am guessing he pushes with his feet in the crib and bumps his head.  So I am thinking maybe I should put the bumpers back even though I have heard that there is a possible SIDS risk with the bumpers. Nothing else comes to mind. Opinions?

    Eventually he'll figure it out, and sleep the long way.  Until then, you could either get a breathable bumper, or leave the bumper out altogether, and let him bump his head.   We bought a breathable bumper for DD because she would stick either a leg or an arm out between the slats, and then try to roll over, and then wake up upset.  So piece of mind and good night's sleep was worth $30 to me.

    We mostly bed shared until DS was 6 or 7 months and didn't use a bumper when we put him in his, and yeah, he was bumping up against the crib all. night. long. I didn't worry too much because it didn't seem to bother him too much and didn't leave bumps on his head.

    If you're worried then your DS is probably old enough to use a bumper without worries. I think they mostly worry about the suffocation risk when babies are tiny.

    I would personally leave them out, he'll figure out to lay the other way. It's not the suffocation risk at his age, it's the strangulation risk. Not worth a slight bump on the noggin. I'll only link the news reports if you want. They banned the sales of bumpers in Chicago for this reason.

    I think I will let him figure it out and see how it goes. He also has a runny nose and has been cranky all day. So maybe he is getting sick and that is why he is just tossing and turning all night. No fever though.

    For my own peace of mind we've never had crib bumpers. Harlow always ends up with her head right up against the slats, but it never seems to bother her unless she's trying to roll over and can't because she's up against the side of her crib. Hopefully he'll go back to sleeping better soon!

    I left the bumpers on until he was 2 and I was tired of dealing with them each time I changed the sheets. LO loved them and snuggled up to them to sleep.
    Me: 44 DH: 42. DS born healthy at 40 weeks 8/24/09. TTC since then with no luck or ART. Surprise BFP 8/6/14... MMC @ 8 weeks 4 days... Miss you everyday sweet baby angel.
