Donate a goat to a family in Haiti? Silly idea for us as a group?

I was reading about Haiti and how you can donate $150 to haitianhealthfoundation.org to give a goat to a family. A goat provides a sustainable solution to a family in need by providing milk and cheese long term rather than just one meal. That amount could also sponsor a students tuition, uniform, and books.

This sounds pretty cool to me (I have a soft spot for children and well, goats too) and I wanted to see if we would like to put a donation together and give as a group. There are enough of us that a $5 or $10 donation would easily get us to the $150.

Please be honest if you think this is silly or you just don't care to give to this cause. I may just do it on my own if there isn't any interest here. I would collect through paypal donations. I would provide proof of the donation as well.

    I WOULD ESPECIALLY AFTER BEING IN THE DOMINCAN AND SEEING HOW POOR THE AREA IS.  I KNOW THAT HAITI IS EVEN WORSE.   THE NEXT TIME WE GO BACK TO DR I AM TAKING SCHOOL SUPPLIES

    We did this through work. 90% of the money goes to the people, which is really unheard of with other agencies. I'd do it again, especially if you could break it up. The area is so poor and they had the hurricaine this past fall as well. Great idea!
