One is the loneliest number...

Are there ANY women out there that play video games on this whole board? Or is everyone just "too old for that kind of thing"...  Come on  I'm lonely over here >.<

Re: One is the loneliest number...

*Waves emphatically* What games are we talking about here?

  • Does Nintendo count? DH won't let me purchase anything made past 1990...
  • I am not an addict by any means but I do play video games, maybe a couple times a week. I love my Wii, PS3, and original Nintendo. I am NOT into things like WOW though.

Haha, yup we have an emulator in addition to regular Nintendo! And I agree with the coordination thing - I can't handle double joysticks (take that any way you want).

  • You can do that!  We just got a Wii and MarioKart, but I miss the old school...

  • How do you download them?  Sounds awesome to me!

  • We have Wii.  I just started playing Sims Castaway last night. It is fun :)

I should be playing more Wii Fit though.

  • Just out of curiosity....what will you do about gaming when the baby comes?

My husband is/was a WoW addict and just knowing how much time commitment it takes from him to be a contributing member of a guild, etc.....

I don't know. I was just thinking that would be tough.

  • Oh, me! I play all kinds of games on the PC, Xbox 360, and Wii. I had to cut back when the morning sickness was really bad, but I've gotten back into it lately. Most of the games I'm playing right now are several months to a year old, with the exception of MySims Kingdom (the DS version is really short, finished that in less than 24 hours). I'll be giving WoW another shot tonight; I get bored with it easily for some reason. I can't wait for the Kotor based Star Wars MMO to come out, but that's probably going to be awhile.
  • Pffst please. My extensive history with video games is by FAR the LEAST of my menagerie of "dorky" qualities.
  • I am not a huge video game person, but I am addicted to the Sims 2.

I wouldn't say it's by far the least for me, but it's certainly not at the top.

Oh, and as far as games go:

XBox360: Guitar 2, 3, and World Tour and Mass Effect.  DH has some others that don't interest me that much.

MMO: CoH/V and EQ2, though that one has recently decided it hates DH's computer.  I'm DEFINITELY stoked about the KOTOR MMO.

PC: NWN2, and occasionally the Sims 2 and Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines.  I uninstalled Oblivion not too long ago, it didn't really hold my interest.

  • I do! I do!

Mostly PC games, and occasionally PS2. I like playing historical based war games, like Battlefield 1942 and Medal of Honor, and I lurv Star Wars Battlefront, KOTOR, Jedi Academy, etc. I occasionally venture on to World of Warcraft, but I didn't really get into it. My DH is a WoW addict, so he wanted me to play to (geek date night, I guess) but I'm too impatient to level to 70. Or 80, as it is now. However, I am SO looking forward to the new Star Wars Old Republic MMORPG, even though it'll be awhile (it better be awhile before they release it, because they need to make it awesome...even if it takes years). As far as the PS2, mostly the Lego games, podracer, and Lord of the Rings.

It's all I can do to restrain DH from buying an Xbox so we can play Halo.

  • It has nothing to do with age, I just find them a waste of time and money. DH plays them, and I'll play the occasional Mario game with him, or help him with something like Silent Hill, but on the whole I find them to be completely valueless.

Edit: That sounded bitchy. Okay, in actuality I don't mind Nintendo. It's actually PC games I have the biggest issue with. We do have every damn console available other than PS3, and I think DH will be getting one of those for Christmas. I just really hate boring first person shooters, they're dull as dishwater.?

There's a store on the main Wii menu.  You have to buy a card at Best Buy, etc. with a certain amount of credits on them (I think we got a $20 card) and $5 buys you a Nintendo game!  I don't play it that much, but once in awhile it's fun.
