1st Trimester

Bleeding, should I be worried?

A little backround info: So I had some bleeding a little over a week ago, they checked my blood 3 times and every time my numbers doubled, that was great news, they scheduled me an U/S for this coming thurs to see how far along I am and to make sure everything is ok. the bleeding stopped for about a week. The dr doesn't think that I am that far along, only a few weeks.

Well last night it started again, If I am still bleeding tomorrow I am calling the dr. But I feel like it could be from (TMI) some rough sex that my hubby and I had on friday night, But I also feel like if it was from that, it would be more spotting and it's more like evertime i go to the bathroom i pee blood. Should I be concerned?

Re: Bleeding, should I be worried?

  • It is easy to tear/irritate the cervix during sex and cause spotting. I wouldn?t worry too much unless it starts getting heavier or you pass small clots or have cramping. But, I would call the Dr. tomorrow to make sure. You say you?re peeing blood, are you sure it?s not in your urine?

If it's bright red blood I would call my on-call Dr or head to the ER. Brown blood is old blood and less of a concern.

This.  When I m/c in October I never had any cramping, it was just bright red blood.  FX for you but I'd call right away!

  • I might also add that you should probably lay off the rough sex for a while if you're having bleeding issues. Your doctor should have recommended pelvic rest at least until they can look at the ultrasound.

  • I have been bleeding for over 3 weeks, sometimes bright red.  I had an u/s recently, everything looks good.  So sometimes bleeding means nothing.  I would call the dr. tomorrow just to be safe.
  • Same thing happened to me. It was bright red and I didn't notice it till I got off the bed and saw it on the bed! I immediately freaked out- we call the doc the next morning and it had stopped so all was okay. She said the same thing about the cervix being very very sensitive.
