Just recently my LO has started to bob on and off the breast. He pulls off but then acts like a pirana and latches back on right away. Does this mean he is not hungry? Any ideas? Thanks.
DD will squirm & break off if she's distracted or has gas. It hurts like crazy, but if she keeps it up even in a quiet environment, I know she needs to toot.
My son has been doing this same thing for several weeks. I've actually had to start using my nipple shields again because he pulls off so much my nipples have gotten sore again. From reading LLL's The Womanly Art of Breast Feeding (highly recommended), there are two schools of thought. 1) there's just too much going on for your LO to concentrate on nursing and the distractions going on around 2) milk low has slowed down or the breast is "empty".
These to suggestions are from the book. I have also learned that after a good burping, he will continue to nurse peacefully.

It gets even better. Mine does this but keeps his latch clamped down as long as possible as he pulls back. Then he starts crying when I say "Ow!"
Usually for me it means I need to do some compressions because my flow has slowed down.
