My RE found a 1cm fibroid INSIDE my uterus when she preformed a HSS (saline sonogram). This is where they fill your uterus with water and move you around a bit from side to side. She showed me the fibroid on the screen and how it was distorting my cavity. My RE is looking for an all clear from my uterus before we proceed with IUIs or IVF, so, she referred me back to my OB/GYN. My RE knows my OB and she says he is a great doctor and a wonderful surgeon.
Yesterday my ob/gyn did an ultrasound but couldn't find it. He did put water/saline in my uterus to look, but the procedure just didn't seem the same as when my RE did it. He said it was an HSS, but for some reason I think the RE did it differently and that's why she got such a great look inside.
My ob/gyn says he doesn't want to do surgery unless he is positive that I have something in my uterus, so, on Monday my ob is doing a hysteroscopy. My OB says this will involve looking into my uterus with a scope, I will be under local anthesia and if he sees a fibroid or polyp he will remove it right then and there in his office.
Anyone have this done? He made it seem simple. I'm worried sick.

Hi,
Happy to help. We didn't have to wait actually - though the doc thought it was be unlikely I would get pregnant that month while everything was healing. I didn't really understand it (I asked if I would be greater risk for m/c that month and he said no) but was happy I didn't have to wait.
Good luck. I hope it goes well for you!
It was so easy and virtually painless...only had period type cramping for a few hours afterwards.
I had the dye test and the ultrasound where they put water in my uterus. The ultrasound showed that I had a 1cm fibroid, but when my doctor performed the hysteroscopy, she found "many, many" (her words) polyps and no fibroid! Even more strange, she found that tissue had built up and was completely blocking my uterus so there was no way I would have ever been able to get pregnant. Neither of those tests showed this, so it is a good thing your doctor is doing a hysteroscopy, because maybe he'll find something else that may be keeping you from conceiving. My doctor said that during the hysteroscopy, she cleaned everything out so it was nice and perfect for implantation.
I had my hysteroscopy on December 29, 2008, and on December 29, 2009, I heard my baby's heartbeat for the first time @ 8 weeks pregnant...thanks to Femara. He just turned 17 months last week. Without having a hysteroscopy, I would have never known that my uterus was completely blocked, and I would not have my son.
I am going to be 40 in March, and am starting to TTC again. I'll have another hysteroscopy done in a heartbeat, if my doctor thinks I may need one!
Wishing you the best and hope you have a BFP very, very soon that results in a healthy baby!
