Update: First diaper rash =(

Okay... so I let Lily roll around bare-butt last night for a little over an hour and I already saw an improvement.  Since it was bath night, I still gave her a bath but didn't let her play around like I normally do.  I got her out and dried her really good then put some of the Aquaphor lotion on (sitter said that worked better than Desitin) and put her in the diaper, swaddled her and put her to bed.  This morning it didn't look any worse... just two little "blister looking" spots - one on each butt cheek.

So I'm thinking this is a diaper rash and not yeast infection since there's no bumps?  Or white dots?  Right?

I know its only been 1 day - FTM here... kinda crazy!  =)  I'm definitely going to let her go free-bird again tonight!  =)

  • My DS has the same type of rash last week. He had two blister looking things. It didn't look like yeast. Pedi said to put antibiotic ointment (Neosp.orin) on the blisters. I also used something he called in to the pharmacy for me. It was called Silvade.ne. It went away in 36 hours! I think you should call the pedi. These rashes can get bad fast. GL!

  • FWIW, we use aquaphor for every single diaper change as a barrier and have never had a diaper rash.  Loooove that stuff!

I think I am going to start doing this.  At a minimum I am going to do it every night since there's more moisture present because she STTN.

    Thanks!

  • Yes! Aquaphor is the best! My LO got diaper rash so bad she was bleeding in her first month (felt like the worst mommy ever!!) and Aquaphor was the only thing that helped!!

    This exactly!

Although, this week she's getting diaper rash again.  I'm so afraid it will turn into the nasty one she had in her first month.  I'm on it!!

PS - Mixing equal parts Aquaphor and Maalox really, really helped when she had a diaper rash.  So did plain water wipes (dabbing, not wiping).  Not sure if you got all this advice on your original post - if you did, just disregard.  GL mama!
