I never paid attention being it didn't pertain to me. But, now DD has one, so I will ask.
What is your best diaper rash ointment? Right now her tush is only a little red, but I don't want it to get any worse. I've been using A&D and Desitin, but is 1 better than the other? Any other suggestions for a better cream?
Re: I know it's been asked before, but...
The best thing you can do for a diaper rash is to give her as much naked time as possible. Letting the area dry out really good works wonders.
As for diaper cream, we have had the best luck with Dermacloud (just called 'Fanny Cream' at some pharmacies). You have to get it at a pharmacy. Walgreens has it, I know.
Good luck, diaper rashes are no fun.
Desitin works fine for us. I rarely have to apply it more than one or two times before the rash is gone.
Thanks, girl! I will look into the few you mentioned!
Right now it's just red, but I don't want it to get worse.
This. A&D is good to prevent diaper rash, but once it's there, a cream with zinc is best.
Boudreaux's Butt Paste + naked time = clear bum
If it's a yeast rash, you will need some antifungal cream.
My pedi said Triple Paste or Butt Paste. If you keep using those and they are doing nothing at all, you may want to try Lotramin for athletes foot, b/c it may be yeast if nothing is clearing it up. My pedi also recommends putting baking soda in the bath water. I have found that the A&D is a good preventative, but doesn't work very well in clearing a rash up. I also use baby cornstarch powder as a preventative too.
Mom to Carter (6), and Calianne (1).
Proud VBAC, natural birth, breastfeeding, cloth diapering momma!
I never liked a&d or destin, I love the Butt Paste, its in a yellow tube with red letters, it works really well
I thought this was the best too. If he had a really bad rash, I'd dry the area, put some powder then the paste.
This. Hands down.
