Re: low Vitamin D?

  • I did. I have to take the pill once a week.

  • Mine did too. I was told to take 4000 IU's a day. I don't think that it is anything to worry about. My OB nurse said that during the winter everyone should be taking vitamin D because the sun is not out and we get a lot of vitamin D from the sun. Hope this helps.

  • I was low on Vit D before pregnancy... 1 pill 1/week and I feel so much better.

  • My visit before we started trying I was low. I lost a bit of weight when I started on it. Get out in the sun for about 20 minutes if you can. It will help tremendously.

  • My midwife recommended I take 5000 IU of Vitamin D during my first pregnancy and I've rarely stopped. Make sure you are taking Omega 3s to help with VitD absorption, but it is very necessary. The usual recomended daily value of 400 IU is a joke.

  • Most Americans are deficient in Vitamin D.

I haven't ever been prescribed vitamin D (never had my levels checked either), but I do take vitamin D supplements. My personal non-medical-professional opinion is that everyone should take a multi-vitamin, fish oil, and vitamin D daily.

  • I have it too. I took the prescription ones 1 time a week for 6 or 8 weeks (can't remember now) and now take 2000iu daily for "maintenance". Totally not a big deal. MOST people have low vitamin D, especially in the winter.
