XP: GBS positive?

hey ladies! hope everyone is doing well as we get to the end, and hope everyone who has had their adorable babies are doing well! Big Smile

i went to my weekly appointment yesterday and got the news yesterday that i'm postive for the GBS swab. anyone else? or has anyone had a previous pregnancy that they were positive for?

my doctor didn't seem to think it was a big deal, and was kind of vague answering my questions about it - so i was hoping someone else has experienced it and has some advice. i'm trying to avoid google because, we all know google just makes you worry more.

    I tested Positive for it with this pregnancy,but didn't with my other 3.From what I've heard and asked a nurse in l&d she said I will get a Antibotic every 4 hrs into my IV.I'll just have to stay in bed for an hr whenever I recieve it

    It is pretty common. You just have to have IV antibiotics for delivery. It is a pretty standard procedure and tons of women test positive.

    I was GBS + this time too. You will just need to get penicillin via IV. THey prefer that you get at least 2 doses, but I was only able to get one because I progressed pretty quickly. It's no big deal :)

    I tested positive too. It's no big deal at all! In fact it's normal bacteria that comes and goes. So you will just get antibiotics and you are good to go :)

    Like all the previous posts have said, it really isn't a very big deal to have tested positive.  I did not test positive but have a friend that was positive and they 'forgot' to test her.  Needless to say it isn't a big deal as long as you get the antibiotics.  If you don't receive them the baby could become very sick.  This is what happened with my friend.  Just make sure to have the antibiotics and everything will be normal and fine.

    thanks ladies! i appreciate the input. i'm going to try not to worry now, and the doctor said about the antibiotics so i'm set to go there.

    now .. the waiting game begins lol.
