It seems like most pregant women seem to attached to their bump and really protective of their bump. Maybe reality hasn't kicked in for me yet. My mom carried a pillow around with her whenever she was in a car, never drank pop, never had chocolate and ate fruits and veggies all the time. My SIL too, was the same way. So concerned about what she ate and everything.
Me, I'm a go with the flow type. My job is pretty busy so I'm lucky to eat lunch on time, let alone a healthy one. I love anything fried, the thought of a vegetable makes me want to hurl and I just want Root Beer. I work at an animal shelter and I'm around bouncing dogs every day who jump on me. I just don't worry about my bump. I'm always busy, I hate sitting down for a length of time. I just feel so different from other mom's. Oh and to give up chocolate....? No, thanks.
Re: Am I a bad mom?
i'm right there with you! with DS I ate no cold cuts, seafood, tuna, pop, bacon, etc.
With this one I have been eating shrimp, bacon, sausage, hot dogs, pepsi, cold cuts, tunafish. yes I know i shouldn't, and obviously its been in moderation. But sometimes you just really need a pepsi. so what i'm saying is, you're not alone. i have friends who have said the same thing, they were over cautious with the first, and more laid back with the 2nd. mmm hershey kisses and junk food!!!
I'm with you too! I tried to eat healthy - and i've done a pretty good job but if the mood strikes and i want Taco Bell or a greasy burger i'm not going to deny myself that! I also allowed myself one dr. pepper a day and now that i'm farther along sometimes i'll have 2! The good thing about root beer is that it's Caffiene Free!!! So i definitely drink more of that!
The thing about cold cuts - there is like a 1 in 100,000,000 or something that you'll get sick ... i take the risk ... sometimes if i'm feeling cautious i'll warm up the meat for about 30 seconds to kill off what bacteria there might be.
As for my baby bump ... i still am not used to it and will knock into things all the time. and my dog (who i think figured out that something is up) still jumps on it every once in awhile and i don't think it's going to hurt LO. I don't think you need to be overly cautious and i'm sure you're doing just fine protecting it!
