We find out the sex on Monday (hopefully). If its a girl, I really wanted the middle name to be May. I just think that is so sweet sounding. I had a Great Aunt Maybelle. If I ever had two daughters I wanted one's middle name to be May and the other Belle.
DH thinks May is corny because we are due in May (I think that makes it even sweeter). And he doesn't like it anyway.
I know I shouldn't be like this because I have to respect his opinion, but I am soooo bummed.
Re: this is selfish of me I know...but is anyone else really upset DH/SO doesn't like their name?
Eh, it's ok to be disappointed. Pregnancy hormones can be a real ***. Maybe it'll grown on him when you find a FN you both love, maybe not (if you're having a girl anyway)
I never really get disappointed when DH vetos a name because (1) There's plenty of fish in the sea--there's tons of gorgeous names out there, there's no need to dwell on one and (2) My husband tends to come around on names fairly often. I never really consider anything completely off the table with him (though I stop bringing it up for awhile if he says he doesn't like it).
My husband shot down several of my favorite FIRST name choices...
Proud mother of two breech babies:)
BFP #1 09/02/11 M/C 09/12/11 8w6days
BFP #2 07/18/12 Baby S born on his EDD 03/23/13
SS - age 12...SD - age 8...DS - 13 mos.
I think that happens to a lot of people. My DH nixed my entire list, girls and boys. And I nixed his. We had to start fresh, as a couple, not looking at names that just one of us loved but at names that we both liked. If it wasn't unanimous, it wasn't going on the list.
FTR, I don't think May would be cheesy. Does he like Belle?

I think you have a right to be upset since it was honoring a family member!!! Maybe talk to him about how it's not just a name you like, it is so special to you.
And plus, my best friend's younger sister was originally going to be Eleanor Grace. All through their pregnancy that was her name. And then she ended up arriving on May 1st, after their due date, so they named her Eleanor May instead. And I've never heard anyone say anything bad about it, they all think it's a really sweet idea (:
I agree with all these statements - except that my husband doesn't come around on names. Totally cool to be bummed - I even get a touch jealous when I see people on here planning to name their children Cordelia or Theodore which were both vetoed by my husband. But I love the name we decided on and I know you will find something you both love too.
