So it seems like I started getting ready for baby rather late, 34 weeks and yet I still have a todo list.... I feel kind of unprepared, but I think that might be the normal lol. I have pretty much have everything expect organizations of baskets/storage bins (waiting for my shower next week), still no matteress, no diaper bag, have not packed the hospital bag, and a couple of other things.... Anyone else?
Re: What do you have left on your todo list?
I still need a changing pad. I need to set up a pediatrician. I need to set up a calling list and do my hospital bag. My Man needs to learn how to instal the carseat. We have pre-natal classes on January 21. Because the hospital is 40 mins away in good weather, we need to set up a back up plan. This is possibly my last weekend at work so I feel like I have time to set these things up.
Happy Bun Baking!
I have a lot- My shower isn't until next weekend but I have the furniture set up... no mattress or bedding. My aunt is coming over to help me finish the nursery design today but I'm not buying anything until after my shower... No bags packed, no clothes washed, but after my shower I'll have a ton of help from family since I'm a mild risk right now and can't do much on my own!
This is left on my to do list:
Pack for the hospital (This should be done but I am lazy)
Take down the napper and changer pieces for the PNP from the attic and put it all together in the family room
I want to buy a boyish diaper bag but I am so many from dd, if I don't its not a big deal
Clean our home (which dh will do next weekend), I like to deep clean before the baby comes becuase I know we will NOT have time to really clean clean after (it will be more maintance)
Clean the car, its pretty dusty and dirty, again dh will do this
Put the base for the car seat in the car
I have to buy those interlocking play mat pieces (the ones with the numbers and letters on them) for tummy time (we have tile flooring and need something between that and the tummy time mat
We still need to get the mattress, diaper pail, and a few odds and ends. I'm having a shower at work in three weeks, so we will probably wait until after that to get anything else we need. I need to pack hospital bags, install car seat bases in cars, and put away rest of baby clothes/sheets/towels/etc.
I have the car seat installed (although I want to move it, and tighten it down some more) and I have enough clothes for at least the beginning phases.
I have a cloth diapering class this next week; a childbirth education class, and a breastfeeding class next week. I need a few things for my bag and I need to pack my bag and get it in the car.
I need to decide if I'm getting a sidecar crib or if I'm just gonna wait for a while and see what we really need. I know I do want a bounce chair. I'd also like a rocking chair, but I haven't see one that I really like yet. I think my mom has one in her basement.... Hmmm...
Breast pump and nursing bra and shields... Bottles and freezer bags.
I'm trying really hard not to buy new stuff, and get everything second hand if possible. There are SO MANY second hand children's store in my city (5 within walking distance!) and it just seems like a waste to bring more plastic and packing materials into my life.
But it also means it's more work for me....
I need to pack my bag
charge camera
install carseats and get them checked
buy changing pad, diaper pail and things I need after birth ( giant pads and granny panties, nursing pads and nipple cream)
set up PNP in my room, move lamp next to my side of the bed
set up swing in living room
wash bottles and passifiers
wash LO's going home outfit
This is it on my baby list, however my "nesting" list is 3 times this size....lol!
I'm sure I'll make ya'll feel MUCH better
today I have to move adult stuff out of the nursery
next weekend we're painting the nursery
I need to finish the mobile
make 3-d butterflies for her wall
figure out daycare that fell through
arrange nursery next weekend after paint dries
shower is weekend after that, so probably a BRU run that weekend
order the mattress (I did get our RNP where she'll sleep to start)
pack hospital bag
buy nursing camis
wash clothing
finishing washing/prepping diapers
wash car
install car seat bases
pick out going home outfit
make iPod playlist for hospital
make her baby blanket etc.
Lol, clearly everything is unlikely to get done since I also have to use personal time to catch up on work stuff. ugh
Not too terribly much, honestly...
- Steam clean the carpets in her room, dust again, clean off the ceiling fan.
- Get car seat inspected by state police.
- Pack the hospital bags
- Finish laundry/put the bedding in the crib.
I have only assembled the crib. I have 6 outfits. And that is all.
I am waiting for my shower next week and then I will get my act together.
All we've got are a handful of outfits and gifts that DH's coworkers have given to us. I've been expressly told not to buy anything - I recently found out that I've got two surprise showers coming up.
As far as furniture, I've already got a rocker and I'm using a crib that has been passed down through our family. I'm making the bedding and nursery decorations myself.
It is kind of hard, though, to not freak out when you step back and realize that you really haven't gotten that much "stuff" yet, isn't it? I just keep trying to remind myself that we're less than a mile away from Babies R Us and I'm not planning on hightailing it to the hospital until I'm positive this baby is ready to come out. If I'm last minute shopping through intense labor contractions, so be it.

Wow, so I didn't think I had all that much left to do, but after reading everyone else's lists, here's what I've got left:
- Install car seat bases in both cars (planning on doing this while DD naps today)
- Wash/sanitize bottles
- Finish packing hospital bag (DH has to get my suitcase out)
- Make iPod playlists for hospital
- Finish organizing kitchen cabinets (poor DH has had to deal with stuff sitting out on all the counters while I "ponder" how I want things reorganized)
- Organize and pack diaper bag
- Finalize logistics of going into labor and what happens with DD
I have a few loads of laundry to do - the changing pads, burp rags, etc. that I got at my shower. And I need to finish my hospital bag since I will likely start carrying it with me since I have to have weekly NSTs and have GD I would rather just have it ready to go - at least packed and in the car for my weekly appointments, then take it out if all goes well.
I need to finish packing the diaper bag, although I will not take it to the hospital with us since they provide everything we need. And I won't need it on the way home from the hospital. I want to put the base in the cars this week and get the crib ready and possibly set up the swing and the bouncer. I have the baby bathtub, but since we can't bathe them until the belly button falls off, I don't know I will unpack it yet. I don't really have anywhere to put it that it isn't in the way so that might just stay in the corner of the boys room.
I need to finish writing in the baby book and get that little stuff finalized, the pictures of me, etc. but otherwise I feel pretty prepared. The pack and play won't get set up until we come home probably, or we might set it up in DSs room and keep it in there the time being - just like with the swing, etc. just to get it ready but otherwise I don't have a list of much.
