I'm on a local listerve and the topic of goodie bags came up. Several people say that a goodie bag or take-home present is expected. Is this true? I can never recall receiving a party favor for attending a birthday party while growing up. But now that I think about it, LO did receive a take home present for the two parties that he has attended thus far. For our LO's bday, we were actually requesting for guests not to bring gifts...and I wasn't even thinking about having a goodie bag until reading this.
What is the norm for your circle?

this
We have when DD's parties included kids (her third and fourth), but didn't for the first 2, since they just involved adult family. The first year I went overboard with stuff (stickers, gummy snacks, trinkety toy, and bubbles). Last year we just gave out a Crayola Watercolor paint set with a personalized label. It was infinitely easier, and the kids seemed to like it.
I really don't think it is a MUST, but it is nice that kids get to take something home.
The theme of LO's party is you are my sunshine so I'm going to make little sunshine clips for the girls and order yellow aviator sunglasses for the boys.
