Has anyone else experienced measuring quite a bit bigger (at 26 weeks my belly was measuring 32..this is my first baby) than where you are at in your pregnancy? Wondering if moms on here think thats very normal or if there's a good chance my date is off.
My doc is sending me in for another ultrasound next week to check things out. I have YET to meet a person that doesn't say "there's NO way they have your date correct" or "are you SURE there aren't two babies in there?"
Re: measuring BIG.!
Just curious to see how they are measuring. When I go in the Dr. presses down for the uterus and says, "yup, feels right"
With my first, I was measuring 5 weeks ahead, starting around week 27. I was diagnosed with Polyhydramnios - too much amniotic fluid.
This can restrict the growth of the baby, or can cause no problems at all. It just means you have to be consistently monitored with ultrasounds, and towards the end of your pregnancy, non-stress tests, to make sure baby is still growing fine and not experiencing any distress.
I'm sure you will have more answers after your ultrasound - good luck!
Mine did that up until my last appointment (at 16 weeks). Then they got out the measuring tape and measured from around the pubic bone to my belly button - since that's where my uterus comes up to now. Not sure what's considered standard, though.
I'm happy to see this topic. I am 22 weeks pregnant and just now got measured for the first time. I just switched from Kaiser to a PPO, so I had to see my new OB. Anyway, I measured at 25 cm. I didn't know what to ask the doctor since I had never been measured before and didn't really know what this measurement meant. Now I know. She didn't render any opinion in any case so don't know if there's any cause for alarm.
