How did you stop swaddling? (Update)

DD fights it with all her might. She will wake up in the middle of the night and try to wiggle out of the halo sleepsack, then cry because she hates having her arms swaddled.

How did you stop swaddling, and how long did it take for your LO to get back on track with their sleep?

Update: Night 1 was an epic fail. After more than an hour of trying to get her to fall asleep with her arms out, I threw in the towel and swaddled her. I put her down drowsy, but awake and she was asleep in less than a minute. Should I try again tomorrow or give it a couple more weeks?

We just stopped cold turkey. One day he just started to fight the swaddle with all his might. We couldn't wrestle him into it so we just let him sleep without it. He did perfectly fine! He rolls both ways & actually sleeps on his tummy now by choice.

We stopped cold turkey at about 1 month old. But we swaddled with arms out and I don't think he really cared if he was swaddled or not, lol. He slept fine without being swaddled.

I kept fighting trying to keep ds swaddled. Then I went to just lower body and he would get out of that. My son likes to sleep with his arms above is head and his feet together with his knees spread apart like a frog lol. I moved to a sleep sack for warmth and he sleeps bettter. Once they start to fight it, they probably dont need it.

We tried cold turkey but it didn't go well. So we did one arm out for about a week. We left the arm out that he always seemed to get out of the swaddle first. After he started sleeping well with one arm, we left both out but still swaddled his body. We did that for about 2 weeks then moved to the sleep sack. It probably took about 3 weeks until he was sleeping soundly all night like before.

We stopped when she was about 4 weeks. Just didn't use it one night, she was fine, never tried it since. We use a sleep sack now that it's colder.

Cold turkey at the same time as sleep training. It took her 1 night to get the hang of it.

I just asked this question a couple of days ago. Everyone said cold turkey so that is what I did. DD did great! She seemed to be happier going to bed without being swaddled. She got the hang of it on the first night. GL!

We stopped cold turkey. The swaddle sleepsack was dirty. No problems adjusting.

She just started to sleep 5hrs for her first stretch, as opposed to 2-3. I am afraid that she won't sleep well without the swaddle. Guess I'll find out soon enough.

How old is she? We stopped at 8 weeks and had him sleep on his belly for naps at first. He loved it, slept awesome. Been on his belly ever since and he's 17 weeks.

He's always had strong head control and is able to hold his chest up fully and look around for long periods of time.

She is 3 months today. She naps fine without the swaddle, but she also naps on me only, chest to chest. Not sure if she is a belly sleeper.

i stopped swaddling DD tonight...and it was no problem at all. i also didn't have to rock her to asleep. i put her down drowsy but awake with no swaddle and she was totally fine! no crying at all. it took her about 30-45 min to stop playing and wiggling but it was a success! Good luck with your LO!!
