January 2012 Moms

I'm full of tmi questions today :P

So... for a couple days now my BMs have increased (I go like up to 3 times a day) and they are a lot softer.... could it be another sing of things progressing??

I know I"m only 1cm and 50% effaced and that it can stay like that for weeks but that it could also change within hours.

I'm just wondering if the BMs are another part of it.. I know that some women get the runs to "clense" right before labor, but can that be happening over a course of a few days and could it be a potential sign of labor coming on sooner than later??

Just curious.

Thanks!

  • I don't know if it is a sign of anything, but the same thing has happened to me.  A few weeks ago I went from having to take a stool softener and fiber every day just to stay regular to having multiple soft movements a day.

  • This has been happening to me for over about a week or two.  So my vote, unfortunately, is that it has more to do with what you're eating and water intake than it does with impending labor.

Ditto.  If it is a sign of progression it is a sloooooooow progression.

  • I was seriously going to ask this same question today!

I've noticed it too in the past week or so. I go much more frequently, and my bm's are much softer and darker in color too. I swear I haven't changed my eating habits other than eating less, since my tummy feels full all the time from being so squished.  Oh, and I'm not dilated at all... so no progress to accompany the bm changes.

Well, I guess it doesn't matter what is causing it. I'm just glad I'm not super constipated. I went through a couple weeks where it was nearly impossible to go, and I felt like I was going to give birth on the toilet for how hard I had to work to poo.

  • My doctor had said something about the increase in hormones before labor may cause this.
  • I wish I could say it means something. I've been experiencing the same thing for almost 2 weeks now & there's nothing going on here...

  • Dang it, and here I thought I was on to something HAHA :)

OH well. It's just weird b/c nothing in my diet or qty of intake has changed so there was a gilimpse of hope. Well either way, we are all aaaalmost there :)

  • I'm sure it's different for everyone, but the day before I had LO I had 3 BMs, which seemed unusual to me. I do think your body tries to clean itself out before labor. Hopefully you're getting close!

Ya I'm hoping so. It would be nice to avoid pooping on the table LOL
