Perinatalogist Office Canceling Appts.

I saw them last month on the 19th. The doctor there said he was concerned about the size of LO's abdomen and about the lack of movement I've been feeling. They've also been watching his size- he is 34th percentile- and has a one artery umbilical cord, so they need to watch for IUGR. He wanted to see me back in 2 weeks (Jan. 3rd). His office called to cancel that appt. with me because they were going to be moving locations the first week of January. I was re-scheduled for Monday the 9th. I just got a message from them that the new office isn't ready and they need to re-schedule again. I tried calling back but they are at lunch. I really don't want to re-schedule again! The doctor wanted to see me a week ago already.

They have two other locations, but both are 45 min to an hour away. Would you try and go to another location on Monday or re-schedule for whenever their new office opens (a couple more days or another week, I don't know yet).

  • I would go to another location, I would be way too antsy! But that being said, the hospital I'm where I'm delivering and see the high risk and cardiology teams is about 40 minutes away with zero traffic so I'm used to the drive. I can see how you wouldn't want to do the drive if you don't have to!

  • That's not cool!  I think I would go to the other location or ask if you can be seen by another practice, if just for this one appointment.  We are dealing with growth restriction as well and I feel like I really need those regular scans for peace of mind / risk assessment!

  • Like PPs, I'd probably go to another location for one appointment...just for peace of mind and knowing that it likely would not get cancelled.
  • Like everyone else said, I'd rather just take the trip over to one of the other locations, especially given your situation. I just couldn't wait IMO.

  • If your LO is that low in percentile, enough for them to want to see you in 2 weeks, I'd definitely go to one of the other locations...no questions asked, especially with there being a cord issue and movement issues!
