Brother suggested to do something for grandma's 91'ish bday.
I get ball rolling becuase no one else does.
Finally get date set and tell cousin's about party (one in IL one in FL). Brother is livid because I am hosting and he wanted mom and aunt to host. He tells everyone party is off. Even calls my cousins to telll them, "don't you think it'd be better for you to just come in july" Her birthday is Dec 30, why july? I have no idea.
Cousins and I talk again and decide to go forward with party, they are excited to come in. People are mad because it is the first day of football playoff's as if I do not have a tv in my house.
Aunt only offered to bring something after she hears that brother was upset that she (and my mom) weren't hosting. I had already had most things covered, so I said bringing a salad would be great.
Get a phone call night from aunt wanting to know details of party as if she wanted to know everything to keep a hand in planning. She tells me is ordering a salad and asks what my grandma can bring. I say, grandma shouldn't bring anything. My aunt says, "I'll tell her to give me $5 toward the salad"
ETA: I added this but unsure why it didn't post... When I text my aunt to see if she all ready ordered salad, she said no. She just woke up from a 2.5 hour nap. I said I'll stop at store to get stuff to make salad after work. She says, "NO. Are you sure?! You have SO much to do.."
....I will also probably have to go get her daughter from the airport at 7 when her flight arrives because she doesn't like to drive and it's a 45 min drive.
Re: the short history of "SALAD"
DUDE.
You were totally missing this in the first post. This is much more flameworthy than bringing storebought salad.
Unable to even.

is it because your grandmother wants to contribute? I don't know. It is so rude to expect the guest of honor to chip in towards a salad for her own party.
No.
Now this is a salad vent I can get behind!
Lazy, no. Cheap, yes.
THIS. Details help, yo.
I was already mad at the aunt in the first thread. This is just heinous.
In my pregnant head it bunches together. If you make a salad you wouldn't take money for it... I don't think. If you order food, I could see taking a couple bucks towards the price. (obviously not taking money from my grandma or guest of honor, but in general... a salad isn't too expensive to make and you wouldn't think of people throwing you a couple bucks towards it)
It's also 50 degree's outside today and I'm sure the last beautiful day we'll see. If would be good for her to get out of her house and go to the store that is 3 mins from her house and make a salad.
We can blame the critical omission on pregnancy brain, no?
That said, the aunt is beyond ridiculous.
Nice. Lazyass and cheapass.
