Ticket not entered as of appearance date?

I recieved a ticket on 12/7 for an expired registration.  The appearance date is today 1/6.  I've only recieved one other ticket in my life (also for expired registration - no, I didn't learn my lesson) and with that ticket I just called the clerk and paid over the phone.  I assumed I could do the same with this ticket (different jurisdiction).  I just called the clerk and she said that I can't pay it over the phone or online and only sometimes through mail.  So she goes to look up my ticket and its not in the system yet.  She says that I should call back once a week to see if it has been entered.  When I asked "so, I won't have a warrant will I?" she said "well only if you are close the the appearance date."  Ummmm, today is the appearance date!  So she said to just call back once a week and they will have to give me extra time.  But, I gotta say, I'm a little concerned.  I mean, I've never been arrested or had a warrant or anything but it seems like it would kinda be a suckfest.  Has anyone every had this happen?

    that seems all kinds of wrong-- what jurisdiction?  You should be able to enter an appearance and not create a warrant without a ticket being filed.

    This happened to me once in a TINY town.  Depending on where you got the ticket, it might not be that unusual.  I got kinda snippy with the lady on the phone I guess, because she finally got in touch with the 2 deputies (2!!!) for the county and tracked it down for me.  She was quite perturbed that I didn't know which one stopped me - the "black guy or the mexican guy".  I tried to explain that I rarely notice a person's color and she laughed - charming.  But anyway, they let me take care of it late with no penalty since they didn't enter it in a timely manner.  She acted like it wasn't that unusual.  So take that for what it's worth, I guess.

    It is in Travis - Precinct 21 (Burnet Rd.).  I asked if I can come down there today and show her the ticket and pay it but she said they can't do anything without it being entered.  She said maybe next time I call back they could look on their desks to see if it is there but now wasn't a good time.
