From a baby site...please read lol
Howdy. My name is Jaime, and my wife's name is Leigh. We have been together for 3 years, and are currently TTC our first child. I have wanted children ever since I was about 3. I have wanted nothing more than to have tons of babies running around.
We just started our first "round" last night. It was....well clumsy and very weird and interesting lol. I am hoping it works, but I am very nervous! Any help or suggestions, if it doesn't work, are greatly appreciated!
So I am thinking after reading this what is a "round" and why would it be clumsy and very weird....so people asked what this round was because they thought only IUI.. IVF..ect was possible. Then she writes this...
I will be carrying, I'm the longer hair on the right side of the picture. We have a wonderful male friend who is willing to donate, and we are pretty much doing it at home, which is why it was weird
lol he's essentially going into a cup, and then we're insterting ourselves. I tracked my ovulation and I have been pregnant twice before (abortion at 12 as a result of rape, and miscarriage at 20), so we are hoping that means that I am fertile enough that it will take naturally and we won't have to go the extra mile.
This is not a possible way to get pregnant..is it??!
Re: Please read this and let me know if I am crazy..this can't happen right?
I guess I am naive and it is something that works?

It is possible. It's essentially a simplified version of what we did in the OB office. Male ejaculates into a cup, we would "wash" the sperm to get rid of any extra junk, check them under the scope to make sure there were swimmers, and then use a pipette-like device to insert through the cervix. They wouldn't have made i all the way through the cervix, but they could get close.
As long as they kept the sperm warm and there wasn't too much of a delay, it is possible.
Wow ok, I always thought it was a untrue thing, but I guess people do it and have had success.

I dont think the same one ..this was taken from a a post that was posted 10 min ago.
lol sorry to bring it here, but I just had to see what you girls thought about this. I never knew you could just try it at home because I never hear any girls on TB talk about trying it at home first before IUI, but I guess people do and some get pregnant. Always thought the turkey baster method was just a joke. Did not know people actually do it!
After 18 cycles:1/12:50mg+Trigger+TI=BFP 2/20/12
Yeah, that is ringing bells for me and mush brain.
And Ocean, I didn't mean this exact thread, but the concept has been on TB before. Hence the "wasn't there a thread like this on TB" comment in my OG response.

I saw this movie and thought "it can't be that simple, could it?" I guess it could work for some!

THANK YOU for that clarification Kellyrn! No one uses a turkey baster. They buy kits or they use needle-less syringes. Many lesbians prefer to do insems at home because it's less "clinical." If you're also using free sperm from a known donor, this can save a lot of money. We have to pay for donor sperm anyway -- which is not cheap! -- so we chose to go with the higher success rate of professional help + IUI.
I'm not sure why it's so surprising to OP that inserting sperm into the vagina can cause a pregnancy.

I was just lurking here, but I'm glad you replied. At home inseminations definitely can result in a pregnancy.

"Anyone can give up, it's the easiest thing in the world to do. But to hold it together when everyone else would understand if you fell apart, that's true strength."
The story was that they were lesbians and their male friend agreed to help them out but only if he could watch them have sex. They weren't comfortable with the idea but they were going to let him. It was definitely mud. I think she copy/pasted from Baby Center or something.
