VBAC

Intro & question

Hi ladies -

I've started to seriously consider VAC vs RCS and the more I think about it the more I think I definitely want to try for a VBAC. My question is this - do you you know of any specific exercises that help prepare the body for a VBAC? I don't exercise nearly enough but I want to start doing something if I am committing to a trial of labour to increase the odds of a VBAC being successful. I'm going to start going to the gym to do some light cardio...but is there anything else I can concentrate on? TIA!

Re: Intro & question

  • Before we conceive I have been doing different types of cruches and sit-ups to strengthen my abdomen. I also plan on changing my eating habits to make them healthier. I do eliptical work now, but once I conceive I will change to walking the treadmill (looking into swimming and pre-natal yoga). I read somewhere that squats can open your pelvic by 10%. Staying hydrated, pre-natals, exercise daily, and healthy eating!! :) I am hoping all the above will help prepare my body for my VBAC in the future.

  • I am doing squats, pelvic rocking, and tailor sitting. There is also one called butterfly, but not entirely clear on how its done. I am reading a Bradley method book with lots of great, and easy daily exercises. They have descriptions of each exercise, but I am more of a visual learner, so I am still trying to master them. If anyone knows where I can find and Bradley method illustration or photos let me know!
  • I did prenatal yoga.  :)
