So, anyone else's LO refuse to eat? I first gave my LO yams about a month ago. She seemed to really like them. I decided to take a brea and start again in this new year, when she was fully 6mnths. I am making my own food and have made applesauce, pears, yams, and green beans. We have tried avacado and banana as well. I only try one food at a time for 3-4 days. She just doesn't want any of it. She will take a few bites...and not easily, and then wants nothing else to do with any of it. I know she doesn't eat much at this age, but she either gags or spits most of back out.
Maybe she just isn't ready...Anyone else experince this?
Re: doesn't want baby food
He's not really a fan either. Every once in a while he seems to like food, but the next day he wants nothing to do with them
I did find that the best way to get him to eat purees is to mix them with his oatmeal that he loves.
I was told that he needs to be up to eating solids twice a day by the time he's 7 months so I'm trying out a second "meal" today while MIL is watching him. I'll keep that up over the weekend and see how it goes, and hopefully it's not so embarrassing that I can send some food with him to DC on Monday! I have a feeling they'll be better at feeding him since they do it with so many kids and this is the first time I've tried!
It sounds like she is still not sure what to do with the food. My DD was like that at first, but once she figured out how to kind of "nom, nom, nom" and swallow she was all in. I don't know if this helped or not, but when I gave her the food I always made a chewing face myself in the hopes she would imitate me.
For us the key was also finding something DD loved (pears). After that she was willing to try most anything else that came on the spoon
Good luck--she will figure it out!
Molly doesn't like solids in the morning or the evening. I just figured out yesterday (and today it was verified) she likes them after her morning nap. She doesn't really eat anything though, but she will gnaw on an apple slice or avocado or sweet potato slice. She doesn't really swallow anything. I've tried purees and BLW and we have the most luck with BLW. She also loves to gnaw on a spoon.
Next up is cucumber and then banana. I am hoping something 'clicks' and she starts to like them more.
Nico wouldn't eat in the beginning either. He did great the first 2 tries and then he decided he didnt like it anymore. He would take a bite, make a nasty face and then make himself vomit. It was so much fun!
I tried every way too, BLW, home made purees, jarred purees.. He wanted nothing to do with it.
I tried 1x a week and he finally started taking them this past Sunday, but he only takes the jarred stuff.
Don't be discouraged. Just keep trying. They do things on their own time.
this. now that i've switched to BLW he LOVES food. (idk if you are friends with me on FB but there is a lovely video of him destroying avacado. and he had the diaper to prove he ate them...)
