My B&SIL are pregnant with their second. They are about a month ahead of me and DH. I told my SIL that we liked Owen and Lucas for boy names like 3 weeks ago and now I hear they are considering Luca if they have a boy. WTF? I'm so annoyed. This is my first baby and damned if I'm gonna have to budge on what I want to name it. I wanted to be surprised, but now that I know they are waiting to find out I am considering finding out the gender and if it's a boy, locking in my name first. Childish I know, but right now I'm so pissed! Maybe it will be a girl and I won't have to worry about it. Sigh, why did they have to have baby #2 now!???

You sound like me! My BIL and SIL (DH's brother and his wife) are expecting their second. She's not due until after me but already it's like everything is sooo much more difficult with her pregnancy this time. And now she has a 1 year old daughter and MUST take her to daycare everyday of the week because she "can't deal with her and being so nauseous too" bullpoop!
We were all over at my MIL the other day and somehow names came up and every single name I brought up she "already had on her list." Seeing as I will definitely be having these babies before her I know she'll be pissed by the name choices we make. With I will kind of enjoy

Yea, you sound like a complete brat right now. You know there are thousands of people out there named Lucas, right? You know you didn't make up the name, other people can name their babies what ever the heck they want. Stop being so childish, if you like the name then use it, regardless of what name they pick.

Agreed, and you don't know if you are even having a boy so why worry about something that may turn out to be a non issue.

Oh and I agree about the name, name the baby what you want, they know the other similar name is on your list and it doesn't bother them. I say be happy and I think it is crazy to find out the sex to lock in a name- I do not think it works that way lol

We are a very close family and hang out all the time. I just think it would be too confusing if there were a Luca and a Lucas especially if both are being called Luc. I was just really shocked is all, considering she had not mentioned that name to me previously and one of her other names is one my husband liked but since they said it was on their list we nixed it to be courteous.
Some of you are extremely rude for no reason. It was just a vent. I thought this was a place I could come to vent without ridicule, but I guess not.
And this is the reason I do not tell ANYONE our names....
BTW, you do sound INCREDIBLY bratty. Its one thing to say your upset because your name got taken...but its another to question why someone would conceive their second child.
If you dont want someone to "steal" your name...You should keep the names to yourself.
