Okay - I had my mind made up but now I think I am over thinking my decision and really questioning which hospital I should deliver at.
Background: DD was delivered at a hospital I am not considering because my doctor and pedi dont go there anymore. However, my actual OB delivered DD and I really would love for him to deliver DS. Basically I tore really badly and he took care of me without any PP issues.
So here's the facts:
Hospital 1: Is literally 10 minutes from my house - which is a huge factor since this time we will be leaving DD at home (with grandparents ofcourse). Its seriously more like a resort than hospital. It is associated with the best breastfeeding support in town. DD's pedi is the head of the department. DD was in the hospital when she was 8 months old and we had a good experience (as far as hospitalizing a baby goes). The downfall - My OB will not go to this hospital.
Hospital 2: My OB will go to - but then again its not a guarantee he will be able to deliver. Its a nice hospital - but its atleast 40 minutes from the house. I am not too concerned about the drive while in labor - but more concerned about spending a few nights away from DD and being THAT far from her. When DD was born, I didn't hear great things about this hospital. But it seems like things are better now. I met a mom who had a baby at 24 weeks there and had good things to say.
It seems that writing it out - it should be a no brainer that I go to Hospital 1? What would you do? I guess I am just having anxiety about leaving DD for so long and so far away.
UPDATE: If this matters or not - my OB delivers more babies "off call" than "on call" He tries really hard to make as many births. I feel that we are close enough that he would try to make DS's birth.
Re: help me decide on a hospital...
Its almost an hour drive from his office and the main hospital he practices out of. He does have privileges there its just a long drive that he wouldnt be able to do during the day or if he were on call at the other hospital. And if he's completely off - its still across town from where he lives.
