I had my checkup this morning. I'm still at 1cm, no change in 4 weeks. Baby is not engaged in the pelvis yet, but his head is down.
If I make it to next Friday they'll schedule a NST & an ultrasound. They'll induce at 41 weeks, if there is no progress & baby isn't in a goo position then I'll most likely have a c-section.
I'm a bummed & cried a little after my appointment. This is the first time it's been mentioned that I may need a scheduled c-section. And I really thought there would be progress. I've been having BH like crazy & my pelvis hurts all.the.time. DH was really supportive & said not to worry, no matter what we'll get to meet our LO soon.
(I know anything can happen but I was hoping for some more encouraging news this morning.)
Thanks for listening to me vent/whine. I hope everyone is having a good Friday!
Re: 39 weeks & no progress :(
If it makes you feel better, my water broke this morning and I'm only a pinky fingertip dilated, so it really means nothing!!! Should have this babe within the next 24 hours contractions getting stronger every time!! ETA: I had NO signs at all of going into labour, no nesting, no cramps and I did nothing to try to induce naturally except walked around the block last night.
Toral surprise this morning!!!!
That does make me feel better, thanks!
Hope things go well for you, good luck with L&D!
I'm in a very similar boat to you - at my check yesterday I was 1 cm, not effaced, baby's not engaged, and no progress from my first check at 36 weeks. I haven't been having contractions or BHs, so I didn't expect any progress, but I would be so frustrated if I was in your shoes having them all the time and no progress.
I just keep hoping for the natural birth I've been planning and dreaming for, and trying to remember that no matter what happens, just like YH said, LO will be here soon and that's the part that counts!! GL!

I'm so glad to hear I'm not the only one dealing with this, the doctor did say sex might help speed things along.
(I'm not sure how that will work exactly since I've been so uncomfortable lately but I'm willing to try anything at this point.)
walk, walk, walk! sex, spicy foods, raspberry leaf tea, pineapple, nipple stimulation, evening primrose oil... try it all!
Good luck!

Just curious...why a scheduled C-Section? I was induced with DS at 40 weeks, 4 days...absolutely no signs of being favorable for an induction. Cervix was "high in the sky" and very low Bishop score. I was of course scared to death going into the induction...but I delivered vaginally 20 hours later. Just curious to know why you would be scheduled for a C-Section. Successful vaginal deliveries do happen even if you aren't favorable for an induction.
The doctor said if there's no progress & LO isn't engaged in the pelvis then they probably won't induce because it will likely end in c-section anyway. (If he is engaged they will induce & we'll try for vaginal delivery.)
They might induce, have to wait & see what LO's position is at that time. We will try an induction IF LO's engaged in the pelvis. If not they probably won't attempt because it would likely end in a c-section anyway.
What a freaking bummer! You've got a stubborn one in there!
Well, I find some of the birth stories encouraging where they went from nothing to a lot in a very short amount of time, hopefully you follow that trend Ash. I'll keep my fingers crossed that it's our turn VERY soon!
Thanks Farmer! My back has been super achy since I left the doctor this morning, I hope that means baby is moving lower & getting himself into position.
I saw your post on 3rd tri about discharge, I hope it's the start of something for you too! Have you had any other early labor signs?
I had a few days of an achy back last week and got all excited that it meant something was coming - nope. Ugh! I keep psyching myself out!
On the discharge thing, well, I got my membranes sweeped on Wednesday. So, she said that spotting/extra discharge would be normal but I though mayyybe since it was a full 1.5 days later, the discharge wasn't a result of the sweep but rather labor signs. Nope! I had lots of lower ute/pelvic pains last night but I really think that was more of a result of my 30min power walk with the dogs in the afternoon and not labor.
Other than that, nothing. It doesn't even look like I've dropped. I can deal with going to 40 weeks but I'm SO IMPATIENT! Sounds like we're in the same boat, twiddling our fingers. lol.
Hmmmm...well, hopefully LO's head gets to where it needs to be. I haven't heard of an automatic C-Section because LO's head isn't engaged in the pelvis. Will they do an ultrasound to confirm that there is basically no way that a vaginal delivery will be successful based on where the head is at before they do a C-Section? Baby is head down though, right? If baby is breech...I could see that being a different story. Good luck.
Andreaw-
I didn't mean to be unclear, they will definitely do more tests before making any final decisions. (she mentioned NST & ultrasound, there could be more)
I think she just wanted to warn me that based on today's exam & his current position I might need a c-section if there aren't any changes.
She also said so much can change in 2 weeks so not to worry too much at this point.
I'm at 40 weeks and as of yesterday's appointment haven't dilated at all. Baby has gotten lower and lower each week but otherwise, there are no signs of labor. Next appointment is Tuesday where they'll check fluid levels, monitor baby for an extended amount of time, and then discuss options for inducing.
The waiting is killing me. And my husband! I'm ready to go stir crazy!
I was bummed to find out my LO hasn't dropped yet either. I've been googling, from what I can tell there are some exercises & sitting positions that can help encourage them to go lower. Here's what I've found, I'm going to try some out this weekend.

I've been doing the vigorous walking and sitting on the ball and rocking/bouncing. I swear I have no faith that any of it will work to bring baby sooner lol!
You're probably right, I'm going to try anyway so I feel like I'm doing something. [:-/]
Yeah me too. I'll walk again later today. We really should just be enjoying these last few days but the thought of hanging in there for 2 more weeks is almost painful.
