Ooh No

My daughter is about to be 3 months and she is trying to suck her fingers. How do I stop her and avoid thousands of dollars in dental bills. Both my husband and I were finger suckers and cost our parents a fortune, is this just pay back.

Re: Ooh No

  • This is why we used a pacifier. I was at a wedding recently with a speech therapist and we talked extensively about this. She never used a pacifier and her son is a finger sucker, she's trying to get him to take a paci now. She said she's eating her pre-mom words.

  • As long as she stops sucking them by the time she's four, you'll be fine.

  • Try to give her a paci, but really at this point, don't worry about it. My LO figured out how to suck her thumb by about 4 months and once the novelty of the discovery wore off she stopped doing it.  Not to mention what PP said about it not being a problem so long as she stops by age 4 (I heard 5).
