A few baby gear questions

So, E will be 4 (hopefully) by the time this baby comes, and I've given away, or sold a lot of his baby items b/c I wasn't sure I'd need them again.  Now it looks like I will need to acquire a few things, and I'm totally out of the loop as far as baby gear goes.

Anyone have a smallish bassinet that they love? I don't have a ton of room and tripped over the last bassinet nightly.  I've looked at a few. And I really like the ones that have the vent panels you can see through on the sides. The Arm's Reach Mini Co-Sleeper appeals to me, but I'd love to hear from other folks who have used it.  Does the bassinet feature work well if you don't attach it to the bed?

I also need a new baby bathtub.  Last time I used a large fisher price tub.  This time I'm wondering if I can get away with something smaller.  Anyone use the smaller sling type seat thing with an infant?  Or is there an alternative I haven't come across yet?

Finally, I'd like to get a video monitor.  Which one has worked well for you?

TIA for taking the time to impart some wisdom.   -S

Re: A few baby gear questions

  • We had this Arms Reach, and actually never even attached it to the bed, just pushed it close. And rolled it into the living room for naps--it was great and I loved that it looked a little nicer than the plain version. https://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2958431
After 7 failed IUIs, IVF w/ ICSI worked!!

I am thankful every day for my miracle after infertility.

And thrilled to be pregnant again after FET!

  • not a traditional bassinet..and has an upper weight limit, but I can't say enough good things about the fisher price rocknplay!!  DS slept in it from 3 days after he got home until 5 months.  it was a lifesaver for us (he was refluxy and I loved that I could just reach out and rock it to soothe him and delay him full on waking up for a bit)  It folds flat to travel or move to other rooms and is light!

Can't help you on video monitors, and our bathtub was just a molded plastic one like this   Some people love the new bucket style tubs...

  • Our regular co-sleeper had to be attached to the bed because it was almost three-sided (the side next to the bed was very low).  But I loved it.

We had a baby bathtub, but we almost never used it.  My mom gave us a bath sponge when she was a few weeks old, and that was way easier to manage a slippery baby with that (especially because she had a bad diaper rash for a while so we just gave her a quick wash in the tub when she had a dirty diaper - it's hard to wash their bottoms when they are sitting/lying in a seat or a sling).  Ours was fabric-covered and cuter than this, but you get the idea - https://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=12403403&CAWELAID=1111291120

We had a Summer monitor, which has worked fine, but if we have another, I'd like to get security cameras that run through the wireless internet network because the interference is less (plus, we were severely limited in the Summer monitors because so many of them are on the 2.4 GHz band and I was afraid it would eff with our wireless network and make working from home a nightmare).

Anyone use a wireless monitor that works with your iphone?  Curious about those, but totally clueless.

The security cameras that are on your wireless network can be viewed from a smart phone if you have them on the internet.  Someone on here posted about the ones they have - I think they had TrendNet camera.  Just look for ones that have audio, infrared, and connect to a wireless network.  You'll probably also want a screen/monitor to keep in your room if you don't want to use your phone all the time.
