Thinking about quitting Zantac

DD has been on Zantac since she was about a month old. After hearing other stories about babies with reflux I realized she didn't have it too bad but she would have one to two crying fits a day. At her four month check up her doctor recommended going a few days without the Zantac to test and see if she still had reflux or if we can stop the medication entirely. DH and I have been planning on testing it this weekend and now that the time is here I am so nervous! I don't want to over medicate her but I also don't want to risk putting her in unnecessary pain either. I know it's good to test it but it just makes me nervous... I don't want to risk messing up the good sleep schedule we just found.

DS was on Prevacid. When I went back to work 3 weeks ago it was very hectic and I forgot to give it to him for a few days. When I finally realized I had forgotten, I also realized he was doing fine most of the time without it. He is no longer arching or crying after BFing or bottles.

I'd say give it a shot for a few days. You can always start again.

Our LO started Zantac at 4 weeks old. We talked about weaning her off it around 5 months, but were nervous that all hell would break loose.

So, we lowered the dose and started giving it to her just once a day. Then about 2 weeks ago we stopped completely and she has been totally fine! No more Zantac!
